I really don't have a lot of confidence in PSAC here. They've been touting that they were able to secure "stronger language", but they weren't able to actually get any concessions on the remote work policy (or pay raises that meet inflation) enshrined in the collective agreement. They got a bad deal and they've been spinning the story for the past few months in order to safeguard the union execs' positions.

This seems like a no-brainer for the government to accept. The government doesn't have the same pressures wrt maintaining office real estate values, so as more private interests face those pressures to force employees back into the office, strong remote work protections could act as a great incentive to draw talent.

You're correct. Unfortunately the management have negative brains, so a no-brainer requires too much brain for them
