Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

Why do I relate to this so much despite only barely knowing what Manjaro is….? Hmm..

I wonder. Lemmy is be definition much less future proof that r&ebbit. Information posted on Lemmy will not last long, as instances come and go. The price we pay for decentralisation and freedom.

I would like to add: old as old Manjaro forum. There are many issues that seemed to be solved there but there is no way to get to it.

To my defence, I didnt know there are old and new. I dont use arch based distros anymore but searching an error, which could be on any distro, there are different kind of Websites which discuss the error. if I could sort them it would look like this:

    1. mailinglists (good described, but you know, you are fucked)

    2. arch wiki

    3. stack overflow

    4. reddit (solution got deleted)

    5. ....

    6. a clickbait guide (you realise your problem was dumb)

    7. arch forum (you read about people dumb like you, getting virtual killed)

    8. manjaro forum (try reinstall)

I not too long ago ran into a kernel issue that was posted on the day I've set up my first arch install. Thus, the #1 result when searching for the bug was the arch forums and the issue was resolved about two weeks later.

Haha it just wouldn't boot from the flash drive. I think it has something to do with the motherboard drivers because Manjaro has a fancy ROG/Manjaro boot screen but I don't actually expect anyone to fix it for me. My set up is very music production based and most everything works with Manjaro but even I know they have a reputation. Thanks for the question though.

I was having problems with the newer endeavour ISOs just not booting as well. Installed Ventoy on my flash drive and it works like a dream now. Also now I can have multiple ISOs on the same drive and choose which I want which makes it an amazing tool to just have in a backpack or whatever.

Huh I've never heard of ventoy I might check that out, thanks for sharing.
