He does seem to be losing grasp of reality, in addition to being a grifter. But I can't be making any real judgement about this either.

I say both. Those things aren't mutually exclusive.

I got that, but I was just not expecting that awful valued pos. They must have manufactured way too much 10-15 years ago.

75 for that ancient thing with 8 gb storage?

Many things contain, or are entirely made out of plastic, even if they don't look like it.

They aren't actually bladeless. The fan is just hidden in the base.

The thing will just ask you and start taking your money if it thinks you said yes? I see so many ways this can go wrong, but then again, maybe that's is what amazon wants.

I had kodi running on rpi's for a while, but then recently switched to jellyfin. Either will get the job done, but jellyfin has been a lot less janky for me.

Pi3 and below don't have codec hardware, which means video is decoded in software, and the cpu isn't very powerful at that. Pi3 got me h264 at 1080p, but I had to replace it since anything more was a slideshow. If your stuff is h265/AV1, minimum is pi4.

Incompetent fool.

Look who's talking

I'm sure they at least learned to not call it Switch U

Let's see if I can continue posting now that we can have thumbnails again.

What to post:

Yes:

  • Weird surreal image edit art
  • Visual jokes
  • Images that have been photoshopped to depict or mean something else than the original.
  • Sbubby (logos or other text images edited)

No:

  • Memes
  • Politically motivated posts
  • NSFW
  • AI generated images or automatic filters:
    • Using generated images in source material is OK, but the "photoshop" part must be real human labour.
  • Posts where the subject's identity is the sole point.
    • Negative posts will receive a stricter interpretation. We want to avoid hate trains, even if the subject is a real POS.

Comments are open for further discussion and suggestions.

I used to practice this art actively.

Also, does anyone have a less jpeg-deepfried version of this?

I made a simple timer app for Android, desktop, and browser. I think it's ready for most part, and I'm starting to look into publishing it.

I decided to start with Android / Play Store, which immediately gives me a roadblock. Google Play Console says:

  • Have at least 20 testers opted-in to your closed test (1 tester currently opted-in)
  • Run your closed test with at least 20 testers, for at least 14 days

I want to look into F-Droid and Flathub once I have this sorted out. But before that, any opinions on the app, or volunteers for testing, as I don't have 20 friends to ask?

Thanks.

Edit: Let's try Play store again with this: https://groups.google.com/g/jyl-test-group

Edit 2: It works, at least someone besides me was able to join:

What a pain. I'll look into preparing an F-droid release as soon as I have time.

Three million malware-infected smart toothbrushes used in Swiss DDoS attacks

HN Discussion

I learned of this thing's existence about a year ago when someone with this thing asked for help in reddit.

It's a ceiling lamp. With a bluetooth speaker. It's in constant pairing mode allowing anyone to connect whenever.

The person complained about hearing the neighbours' cooking instructions and that their teenager cranks the music to max volume while figuring out why there's no sound.

Some 5 years ago I used the toilet in a mall. Their urinals all had screens showing Android (4?) home screen. The screens were replaced with printed ads later.

Picture is from internet as I have lost mine since, but the product is same

I was going to make a post about my toothbrush to this community, but apparently there isn't one anywhere. I could just find two dead ones at lemmy.ml with 1 and 3 subscribers.

Given how tech and privacy oriented lemmy userbase is, it's absence was a bit surprising.

Edit: Fixed links, thanks. Added pic.

I discovered the purpose of what looked like an NFC tag in my toothbrush heads. More expensive smart versions of my toothbrush log how many times the head is used, and start nagging about replacement after a while. Unlike with printer ink, it at least doesn't disable old toothbrush heads.
