I think you're misunderstanding, the TV's firmware literally states that it can only be used for photos. I tried accessing both webm and mp4 to try my luck, but nothing.
Oh! Is Roku something you can get separately? I always thought it was just a built-in OS on newer TVs.
Not necessarily Canadian made but maybe try getting it second-hand at a thrift or antique shop?
