Isn't it the dbzer0 one with 3.9k MAU vs 1.1k for programming.dev?

[email protected] is doing fine, but it seems like now people are posting back to [email protected] , due to what I guess it the pro AI-art stance of dbzer0

Should we consider another instance for the privacy community?

Restarting [email protected] with @[email protected] ,quite nice so far

[email protected] is normal, still the main single poster there

Piefed allows you to tag users natively https://piefed.fediverse.observer/list

there strangely is one for comments like this one that I am typing out here, but not first-level responses to a post, and not actual posts - although in the past I have seen those buttons, yet right now they are gone in those cases

That's probably a bug, feel free to report it either on Codeberg or at least on [email protected]

There's no such technical reason

private voting

After having discussed with a few people, Rimu agreed to drop the private voting. The system will switch to two votes button

Low quality communities

This is now opt-in, and configurable by admins

Seeking stakeholder involvement is the product of publicity and outreach, not just technically something being in public. I do a lot of community organizing and local government stuff and “the meeting was public” doesn’t cut it if you don’t advertise it. In fact, people will rightfully get pissed off if you say that.

This was posted in the Piefed_meta community, where else was it supposed to be posted?

Also, the new version of voting allows private local vote, and public federated vote. Obfuscating the federated votes was trivial to overcome

chore: set default instance to lemmy.zip, remove lemm.ee

Thank you for all your work!

Context: I tried to use the Piefed migration feature to migrate [email protected] to [email protected]

https://piefed.social/c/barcelona now exists, with all the existing posts there, as well as the icon and description.

It even moved some subscribers (there are around 100 now), from what I understand those were Piefed subscribers that got automatically moved.

The one caveat is that from Lemmy instances, the community doesn't have show old posts (see https://lemm.ee/c/[email protected]), but if you were restarting a community from scratch you wouldn't have access to your old posts anyway.

This ensure that at least the posts are transferred to a community on an active instance, which is probably the main concern for lemm.ee communities at the moment.

This post is "FYI only" for blahaj lemmy members. It is not a debate, and is not intended for non blahaj lemmy users to weigh in and offer opinions.

I recently received reports of a feddit.uk user espousing transphobia. Specifically, this was a feddit.uk user refusing to use the word cis, repeating the "adult human female" dog whistle, and claiming that trans women are not women. I approached a member of the feddit.uk admin team and raised my concerns and sought clarification of their stance on posts like this, where the transphobia is mostly dogwhistles, and "civil disagreement" on the validity of trans folk.

I was told by the feddit.uk admin that their preferred response is this kind of transphobia is to "sort it out through discussion and voting". However, the comments in question are currently more upvoted than downvoted, and little "sorting out" has occurred. The posts remain in place.

At this point, the admin stopped responding to my messages despite being active elsewhere on lemmy. When it became clear they were ignoring my messages and had no intention of removing the posts in question, I made the decision to defederate the instance.

I know some folk agree with the feddit.uk admins approach of pushback through discussion and voting, but this instance is not designed to be that kind of space. Blahaj lemmy is meant to be a place where we can avoid the rampant transphobia universally visible on nearly every other social media platform, and where we can exist without needing to debate our right to do so.
