It works for all those who are disabled now, but not for any who become disabled in the future. Society lets any progress we've made in accessibility lapse, and the next generation has to fight the last century of battles that the community has won all over again. No ramps, no textured or audible crosswalks, no fluent braille users to learn from, and even less patience and understanding from everyone else.

wtf do you think these votes in the senate about giving military aid mean? the idea that paying defense contractors to replenish our arsenal is somehow funding local infrastructure is utterly deranged.
edit, to be clear, im not saying that supplying our allies is wrong (well, at this point it might be wrong in israel's case. certainly not in ukraine's though). I'm just saying that your earlier statement about the wars making money for the US is wrong. Some US companies are making money, but only because it's being spent by the US government. Not a positive for the rest of us.

I drove cross country last year and saw signs of bedbugs in 3 of the 4 stops I'd picked out ahead of time. One of them was straight up still treating the room and even using a home remedy (had diatomaceous earth scattered all around the room) and then told me to my face they didn't know what I was talking about. From what I hear, it's only getting worse.
Airbnbs might not be any more professional about handling the situation, but at least they handle a smaller volume of people.
