Unfortunately I'm on an instance that doesn't support downvotes, so I can't even see those

I really don't under your stand point here. I'm not targeting you either. I asked (!) another user Boozilla who has been active recently to update his posts to include a little synopsis of the article linked in their posts. They DMed me back saying "Done!" - no drama. It's honestly just to keep this community clean and have some sort of continuity between posts. It's easier when you scroll down the feed and you can see the title of the article as well as a short synopsis to catch your attention before you commit to reading the whole article. There is no rules, there is no commands, no one is telling anybody off - I just politely asked you. I hope you understand my motives - honestly there is no hostility intended.

Please add a short synopsis in the posts title to hint what the article is about

Please add the article's title to your post title to keep consistent form across all the post "Dendrocnide moroides"

Otherwise really interesting!

I have a CBF125 2012 and CBR600F 1997 - never had any serious issue with any of these. That's just my experience. I have a civic 2017 and no issue there either but its on the newer end of the spectrum so not exactly a good example

Such a beautiful bike, especially the neo cafe racer trim. Went to view it at my local Honda dealership and I was really impressed. Maybe one day

Heard that before - about Toyotas being madly reliable. Something about getting a Prius, driving it till yer dead and being burried in one :D

Can't fault me for wanting something hmmmm flashier? You know, like a classy car :D

Are there any fitness trackers that don't have a screen and are supported by some OS apps?

I remember researching this some time ago, and there was some abandoned by it's company fitness tracker that people tried to reverse engineer to work with an OS app.

I would like it to have no screen as I already have a mechanical watch, and I dont like to have two things doing the same thing.

Cheers

Tutanota, Woocommerce, SMTP (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Hi all I recently moved both my email domains to a Tutanota account and so far I'm mostly happy with their services. I now hit the first obstacle, which is, I'm starting my own woocommerce store and to get emails from the website, through [email protected], I need to setup an SMTP server which Tutanota obviously doesn't support. From what I found out, you can have MX records setup to only one provider. What's my best option here? Would I have to move my domain from tutanota to, let's say, Google? Many thanks

EDIT: I host both my personal website and my woocommerce store on my VPS server. Should I just drop Tutanota and move all my emails there too?

EDIT2: It seems that Proton supports SMTP - would I be better off moving all my emails to Proton?

I am opening a woocommerce store pretty soon and I was looking through a various drop shipping/fulfilment on demand services. One of them offers their services through an API and there is some documentation on it, and how to run a test if it works correctly on my end but no information on how to "install" it on my store.

I can send you the link to the service and their documentation page - just don't want to do it here not to doxx myself 😄

What is API and how do I use it?

Many thanks

This song makes me nostalgic for a reality I never got to experience - slow paced American countryside.

Senior call button (lemmy.blahaj.zone)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Hi y'all,

I have an elderly lady living next door and she doesn't really seem to have anyone checking on her (I have never seen anyone coming to hers) apart from me and my partner every once in a while (usually she will pop by asking if we need anything and vice versa).

I'm a little bit paranoid about what would happen if she fell/collapsed in her apartment and couldn't call for help. It doesn't help that there is a dog living with her (I'm not gonna paint the picture, but I'm sure you heard the stories...).

I want to suggest to her to have some sort of SOS button that she could carry around the flat and, if something happens, she could press it to call for help.

I found this on aliexpress but it has it's own proprietary android app that I don't think would work on my GrapheneOS phone. Local, non-aliexpress options are pretty expensive and/or are subscription based.

Do you know of any alternative that wouldn't break a bank and would have more open source friendly system in place?

EDIT: I was thinking about a cheap wireless door bell (she would have the button - door bell would be in our flat). The problem is when we are away from home.

Perhaps a door bell with simple phone push notifications (my partner has a regular android phone so she could receive those)? Any product suggestions?

My little girl was dying after her first season after being adopted from a local super market. Now she came back to life - stronger than ever!

The only issue is, she is no longer "little" and she's not letting out any flowers. I'm pretty sure you are supposed to trim and cut roses, but I'm not sure how.

Could anyone help us out?
