Well the Greens already invited Merz to discuss this topic before the elections and Merz and his CSU cronies denied, and now took the Green's votes for granted w/o even talking to them. So, Merz probably should first learn some basic manners before going into politics.

People here, at least for the last 50+ years, used to have a quite comfortable, safe lifestyle, with various state institutions taking care of shit. If anything (and may it only be a small thing) is taken away from them, or goes wrong, or cannot be sustained anymore, they start to complain that everything is breaking down.

In short: Entitlement and a tendency to nag and take everything for granted, plus inflexibility and unwillingness to change/think out of the box.

Personal humble opinion of a German.

Is ja alles ganz geil, die eigentlichen Probleme werden hier aber nicht angegangen: "Heimat des neuen Schattenwerfers ist der Kronenplatz in Karlsruhe. Dort finden regelmäßig Veranstaltungen statt. Gleichzeitig heizt sich der Platz im Sommer auf bis zu 40 Grad auf. "..."Unter dem Platz befindet sich eine Tiefgarage, echte Bäume würden laut Käuflein daher die Traglast des Bodens negativ beeinflussen". Soll meinen: Die Infrastruktur unserer Staedte wurde so ans Auto angepasst, dass wir jetzt mehr kuenstliche Dinge entwickeln muessen, um nicht in der Hitze draufzugehen. Votet mich down, ich finds trotzdem pervers.

I'm ansolutely no expert here, might the "apathy" of the majority rather be some sort of deeply ingrained obedience to the office ("The President of the US", not the person that holds the office) or the institution (pledge to the flag...)?
