Good cop, bad cop.

Divide and conquer.

This is literally the exact point.

Also, Fox News for like 20 years or more has had a “liberal“ segment, where they do equal stereotyping, strawman, caricatures, and general bashing of “conservatives“

Divide and conquer. Get people to focus on inconsequential or less important issues or manufactured crisis (Which are real)…

… Instead of allowing folks of different political stripes to unite around, for example, an end to billionaires and oligarchy.

For a great example of this, take a look at what Fred Hampton was able to achieve. That’s exactly why he was assassinated.

Wait, what?

Please recommend a good source for that movement coverage!

The only reason I’m asking for a source is because, well, a lot of sources tend to leave out pretty vital info…!

NPR has gotten pretty neo liberal. Or maybe it always was, and I just didn’t have anything better to compare it against.

As someone who’s been watching this, I appreciate your willingness to grow.

TBH, it does come across a bit as gaslighting on your part: Making reference to Christmas & Turkey’s, and making authoritative statements that “no, it’s not happening“ doesn’t seem to me like the approach of someone who is genuinely open and curious to learn.

The so-called posturing is probably defensiveness on the part of a person whose views are being actively invalidated and shot down.

Please reread your original comment and take some time to reflect (I say this as someone w/ a long history of putting foot in mouth, and will probably continue doing so inadvertently…)

Off-topic:

My impression is the most folks who voted for Trump did so because they genuinely, honestly believed that he is really and truly and antiestablishment rebel… Who is genuinely trying to help the working poor.

Which they are [working poor.] (and, goes w/o saying, were hoodwinked by said ConMan… Just like all those retirees who voted for Ronald Reagan… And then were shocked and pissed when he immediately cut their Social Security.)

In short,… Please don’t blame cult victims who've been deceived by s/o they misperceive as an authentic, charismatic individual.

I could say the same thing about my parents, who (still) strongly support(ed) Biden, despite being equally strongly opposed to things he & his cronies did.

They believed the lies.

Actually, it’s made this one of the trending posts. Which means more people see it. Which… Can lead to important conversations.

Also, the rise of the Nazi party happened because people allowed it to happen.

Most folks tend to follow the herd. (Or the flock, if you prefer.)

When people see that other people aren’t going to tolerate it…

… That can help to spark/motivate others to actually organize … To lead to a movement.

Thanks so much! Sorry for the dead reply.

TL: DR; I’m gonna take a shot in the dark here, and guess that, for experienced XMPP client/server devs, the answer to my question is the sort of thing that one picks up by becoming familiar with the XMPP specs and extensions…

Q: Is that an accurate assumption?

I hear you that for the vast majority of users, or users in general, this probably isn’t helpful.

In my case, I’m also a professional IT nerd — done plenty of paid (mostly corporate) work on projects, architecture design, bugs/changes/QA, planning.

Follow up: is there a place where any of it* is being tracked or documented, either now, or in the past?

  • (specific issues caused by lack of using/integrating a particular XMPP extension — either in an XMPP server, or in an XMPP client).

I did find a list of extensions and clients, but it would be nice to see particular (undesired) behavior tied to particular XMPP extension's lack of support/integration. I.e., bug reports/QA testing

Could also be expected, predictable behavior, without necessarily having to do actual testing.…

Is there a link to this I can’t find?

All the documentation is really scattered (partially due to the interwoven nature of having a stack of different protocols/services).

necessary for outbound telephone calls (to landline/mobile phone network)?

… or, put another way:

  • are there any XMPP clients one is aware of which can NOT do so?

More generally, Is there a list of What XMPP extensions are used by JMPchat (and for which purposes)?

Hi folks,

I want to pay for JMP.chat as a NEW USER, but do not currently have access to a card. I also cannot easily get one.

However I do have access to PayPal, LiberaPay, and ACH bank transfers.

——— Another noob here. (I don’t yet have jmp chat but am looking to get started.)

Q: For either signup new account, or for existing top-ups:

  • … what was the change referenced regarding payment & PayPal & BTC?
  • what all past methods hv ever been supported?
  • which are currently?

Questions (all above) apply to both new signups and/or for topping up existing accounts.

(I read the two have some different methods available.)

Aside from the faq (which only mentions cc, iirc), Are there other places where any of this is/has been discussed?

Edit: I did see that Monero is allowed for topups.

  • What about Ethereum, etc?
  • ACH bank transfer?
  • LiberaPay?
  • PayPal (unclear on this)?

Thanks!
