I think ethically, legal status should not be a barrier to education about drugs. Sadly, in reality it often is (this includes research as well).

I'm not advocating for intrusive policing, if that's what you think. The system we have now in many places is horribly broken and abusive. Instead I'm saying we should decriminalize but keep policies that are essential to public health (e.g. don't give hard drugs to children), provide better resources for doctors and other healthcare workers, and deliver robust (and scientifically accurate) informational campaigns.

I know, it's such a shame there's never been a campaign to inform people about the risks of drunk driving... /s

Actually yeah, Rehfeldt basically is "metal" with the goofy quotes, haha. I think that means Radio Disney is the lazy river to hell.

Prescription meds generally aren't party drugs. At least not the ones I know about. So that's not quite the same.

Oh, I 100% believe that drugs should be decriminalized and treated as a health issue instead. Meaning both individual health and public health. Like how Portugal does it, IIRC.

Booze and cocaine are both party drugs and people already use them together, but I think there's a larger public health concern if they were both readily available because that population would spike. People should have a little more knowledge of the risks. Plenty of folks out there think uppers + downers just cancel out 🙄 We don't need more 20-somethings in the morgue.

Okay, but the combination of coke and alcohol dramatically increases your risk for a heart attack, so having both really available is potentially an even worse health crisis.

This could be nice for folks that want a console-like living room experience that "just works".

Me? I built a Linux HTPC a dozen years ago and have periodically updated the graphics card (it gets the hand-me-downs from my main gaming PC) so I don't need this. I'm far more interested in a Steam Controller 2 😄

American, but I enjoy beer and have tried hundreds. I tend to like sweeter or richer Belgian and German ales the most. Things like König Ludwig, Tripel Karmeliet, Augustiner, Weihenstephaner, Ayinger, Paulaner, and St. Bernardus will always top my list.

If you like those, here are some US recommendations that are also damn good. Note, some of these are quite regional.

  • Tröeg's - Mad Elf
  • Fat Heads - Alpenglow
  • Boulevard - Bourbon Barrel Quad
  • Royal Docks - VLAD
  • Dark Horse - Scotty Karate
  • Descutes - The Abyss
  • Fat Heads - Goggle Fogger
  • Sierra Nevada - Kellerweiss
  • Terrestrial - Blue Dream
  • Thirsty Dog - Irish Setter Red
  • Penn Brewery - Penn Weizen
  • Ommegang - Manhattan Shine
  • Sibling Revelry - Lavender Wit
  • Ithaca - Apricot Wheat

Also, shoutout to almost anything by Unibroue - They're from Montreal, but hey that's not Europe.

I've watched a few video reviews and obviously there's a new story and overhauled graphics. But besides that, what's actually different in the new title compared to the old games? Any new game mechanics or improved systems?

I greatly enjoyed the original STALKER series and there's certainly something to be said for "don't fix what isn't broken". But the enemies, weapons, inventory system, etc. in the new game look like stuff I'd already seen circa 2008 (again, modern graphics aside). In what ways is this more than just a remake/remaster?

What non-game paid apps do you use that are worthwhile and still relevant in 2023?

For context, I have a decent amount of Google Play credit thanks to Opinion Rewards and a gift card. I'm not looking to start a book or movie collection there, nor sign up for subscription services. But I'm happy to buy the paid/pro version of useful apps.

I'm excluding games just because that's a whole topic on its own.

Here are some one-time paid apps I've been happy with:
