Yeah, ever since Nike bought the lot they've been a bit mad with the designs...

I always had Chucks, not because I didn't wanna get teased mind you I just thought they were cool. Kids teased me for different things anyway.

But man, they never really lasted that long. One to one and a half years of daily use, and they doubled in price in the last ~15 years (which maybe isn't that much but I feel the quality went down a bit).

That's even better then. I just used an Opal card, I'm sure my credit card would've worked fine but I tend to be extra cautious when It comes to things like that, plus it's a nice souvenir

When I was in Australia, a bunch of people asked me about the public transport here and all of them were baffled when I told them how shit it was...

I have no idea where this perception that everything must be perfect in Germany or Europe came from but it is sooo outdated.

Speaking of tickets; in NSW you just tap your Opal card when entering/leaving train stations. It makes so much more sense and is so much easier.

first formal "truth-telling" inquiry [...] from 2021

Holy fuck... I mean that's great but why did it take until 2021 for them to enquire about that?

I don't think I'll be helping this year, it's too bloody hot over here to deal with all the surrounding drama (from people who try to sabotage the flag), but it's cool to see that the Aboriginal Flag is now "officially" part of it

Is Carroll & Richardson Flagworld an indigenous business? As far as I know they hold the exclusive licence to manufacture the Aboriginal Flag in actual flag form and I wonder why they're not mentioned

Edit: I looked into it a bit more and it seems that the exclusive licence held by Carroll & Richardson was kept to ensure a high quality and that manufacturing of the flag stays in Australia, which is actually quite good IMO.

Explains why those flags are so expensive...

I know that people in English speaking countries tend to like German accents, can't really imagine why, though. I'm trying my best to lose the thing lol

Over here in Germany people seem to like British accents I guess. God forbid you've got an eastern European or even just an east German accent, though, there's a ton of people with prejudice against that.

Before you say something, I am aware now that cashew nuts aren't that good for them (too fatty) and that you probably shouldn't feed them at all.

I went to the Lagoon that morning specifically to feed a cocky and I did... as well as about a dozen ducks. I'm sorry, I won't do it again.

Sat there for 20+ minutes just taking it all in

Saw some people posting random pictures lately, figured I might as well join in. This was near Wollundry Lagoon in Wagga

First of all, sorry if this really isn't the right spot for this but I figured that maybe some Aussies in here recognise it.

I've had this stuffed frilled-neck lizard since roughly 2006 when a family member brought it back from Australia for me, I know for sure that my brother had a stuffed dinosaur with a similar design on it. According to the tag it was hand made in Australia by "Kurrajong Aboriginal Products". A quick search brought me to a company with the same name that sells child education books and hand made dolls, so the connection is kinda there but I can't be sure; they don't sell stuffed animals (anymore). I'd really like to know if anyone has seen these or even has one.

Here's some pictures I took of it.

When I was in Australia myself a while ago I searched for similar things but couldn't find anything. Even the museum shops I went to only seemed to sell generic Chinese-made stuff, which really is a shame but anyway...

I just came back from a 6 week trip to Australia; spending time with my relatives (some of whom I've never met before or haven't seen in 20 years) and I had a really really really great time. Everyone was so welcoming and just appreciative; I was really overwhelmed by how amazing the whole experience was.

On my flight back I was crying the whole time; I never felt like that before and just couldn't handle my emotions (much to the dismay of the people sitting next to me). Most of all I just didn't wanna return to my dysfunctional family in Germany. It's been my goal to move to Australia for some time now but after this experience I'm determined to move as soon as possible. It's gonna take a lot of figuring stuff out and it won't be easy but I'll make it work.

Just wanted to get that out there I guess.

Edit: if someone happens to have a few tips and pointers for me regarding my plans they would be greatly appreciated

Does anyone know how to order or configure the P14s G5 AMD with a OLED display on the German Lenovo site?

The OLED display seems to be NA exclusive apart from a few overpriced offers from third party sites...

Some time ago, I pulled this sticker off our old fridge before we got rid of it and put it onto my PC's side panel (don't ask me why, I guess I thought it looked cool). I don't exactly know where it came from or who put it there, although I suspect it was put there by a Australian relative that was visiting us a long time ago (the Murrumbidgee is a river in NSW, Australia).

Does anyone know the artist or name of this if it even has one? There's no obvious signature that I can see.

Feel free to remove if this isn't allowed.

Edit: I've since found out that this comic strip was actually made by the relative who put it on our fridge. It depicts something that had happened to them; I won't go into it further cause they don't know that I've even posted this here but yeah
