there are several recent examples of a dictator type forcing interests rates low and causing hyperinflation in recent years. it does not take much. its way easier to fuck things up than unfuck them. which is why posts about how the folks unfucking stuff are not doing a good enough job while we allow the fucker types to run things half the time make my eyes roll into another dimension.

I speak casually but my aim is just to find out if they have the technical skills necessary for the role. I find little social things come up by happenstance.

I just have opted out overall and literally use as little as I can across the board.

So I often wonder about japanes cultural things in anime and especially since I watch dubbed (increasingly bad eyesight has made subbed a non starter). Anyway there is a love is ware episode that revolves around a character finding the word wiener funny but it sorta makes me wonder because in english we have that but I would assume other languages would not have the same stuff. At one point too a character is trying to get another to say it by asking another name for hotdogs or for dashhounds. It just makes me wonder if there are real analogues in japanese around this or do the writers have to decide on a different cultural thing for the joke to be around. Anyone know about this? On a side note there is the whole thing of people calling them by their last names and it makes me think about everyone walking around referring to each other like they are a student in their gym class. I wonder how prevalent using the last name actually is.

yeah but with agile they should be checking the product out when its a barely working poc to determine if the basic idea is what they expect and as it advances they should be seeing each stage. Youll never get the proper requirements by second guessing what they say.

The only thing I see with hardware acceleration is starting in safe mode. Am I missing something?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 13 hours ago

Yeah its to bad they got rid of it and they did some things that ruined the pacifica that took its place. For people with limited mobility the seats are the perfect height where you don't drop into them and you don't have to climb up into them. Being able to stow all the seats and in more recent time the roof rack is just incredibly useful. Then all the basic minivan things are really great. sliding side doors, the rear window winglet things and then the rear hatch. urge to suddenly go camping just have to back it up to the firepit and you can roast marshmellows in the rain.

Oh. I definately saw it twice per day. That is what got me to post something and find out if other folks see it. Never have it on any other application though. Only firefox and only on linux or maybe specifically gnome but I can't be sure.

So im on zorin so basically ubuntu with gnome. Anyway I see this thing and it only happens with firefox but the switching between various windows I get back to firefox and it will be full screen size but not actually full screened so now I can see another window peeping over the top. Does not happen consistantly at all but like a minimum of once a day I notice it and click the window back to small and then full screen again to get it to use the whole real estate. Just seeing if anyone has seen behaviour like this or better yet knows something about it.

Its a well known thing that as far as I can tell everyone goes through if they have multiple kids even though they are aware of it. At least I have never encountered anyone who has mentioned it not being the case who has had kids. I guess its that way with sorta everything though. I mean seems like most professionals are more comfortable and easy going with their profession down the line compared to first year at first job.

So Im a bit confused at the ending as its the adult who played the kid, no? At least thats how I learned but it was my older brother who did the trick. Man I think shes in her forties even if it was two years ago (Ived discussed before the time gap thing she does with content involving her kids) and I can't imagine keeping the sprint for that stuff at that age. Not that I have actually ever done it but I think the reason it was my brother was because neither of my parents were up to that kind of thing at the age they were.

Ok. So its something im sorta frustrated with in movie and film plots. Its where the characters seem to intentionally not tell other characters things for apparently no reason. So its like a fair amount of the plot would not exist if the characters would just mention relevant things. This is usually in fantasy types like in particular I am seeing it with the magicians and school spirits. I mean maybe behavior like this is common outside my experience but its weird to me.

Unfortunately Pritzker's original post I think is on facebook so this seemed the least offensive source. I love this guy.

Hope this is kosher but I can't think of where else to post. Anyway man I have been seeing more join the military commercials and in particular a marine one is disturbing as fuck sounding. Anyone else seeing this?

EDITED - searching around man just the marine youtube channel and whats been coming out in the last month:

https://www.youtube.com/@marinecorps/videos

this is the one I saw that got me to post today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ot5tToz9BE

So the saturday ones do this non sequitor stuff and lately it has been things said by certain kinds of folks in our current times. I normally don't post weekends but I don't recognize where this came from. Anyway does anyone know who said this one as I apparently missed the news item or more likely Xit (or would it still be called a tweet?) or whatever

Boy second day in a row. I usually don't paste the artists comments. I figure that is a bonus for people who go to the site and I assume that somehow supports the artist but this one I think it helps with context so here it is:

"Kids are a great distraction from doom scrolling but also a powerful incentive to fight for a better society."

This is from a new york times gift article from the nyt.

TikTok ban

What the administration did

  • Ordered the Justice Department not to enforce a ban on TikTok for 75 days and to notify the app and its business partners that defying the law is no criminal offense.

What it could be violating

  • Law barring TikTok from operating in the United States unless and until its Chinese owner sells it.

Foreign aid freeze

What the administration did

  • Required blanket temporary freeze on most foreign aid.

What it could be violating

  • The longer it lasts, blocking congressionally approved spending comes into greater tension with Impoundment Control Act.

Domestic grants freeze

What the administration did

  • The Office of Management and Budget ordered agencies to carry out a blanket temporary freeze up to $3 trillion in domestic grants and other government spending.

What it could be violating

  • The freeze has been temporarily blocked by two courts after plaintiffs raised challenges, including provisions in the Administrative Procedure Act and First Amendment rights.

U.S. Agency for International Development

What the administration did

  • Moved to apparently dismantle the agency and fold its functions into the State Department, including by making Secretary of State Marco Rubio its acting director.

What it could be violating

  • A law in which Congress created U.S.A.I.D. and structured it as a stand-alone entity.

Inspectors general

What the administration did

  • Summarily fired 17 inspectors general, the watchdog officials who hunt for waste, fraud, abuse and illegality in government agencies.

What it could be violating

  • A law that says presidents have to give Congress 30 days’ notice and a written “substantive rationale, including detailed and case-specific reasons” before any such removal.

National Labor Relations Board

What the administration did

  • Summarily fired a Democratic member of the independent agency before her term was up, paralyzing the board by leaving it without a quorum.

What it could be violating

  • A law that says presidents may only remove board members “upon notice and hearing, for neglect of duty or malfeasance in office, but for no other cause.”

Federal prosecutors

What the administration did

  • Summarily fired prosecutors involved in the cases against President Trump or the Jan. 6 rioters.

What it could be violating

  • Civil service job protections against arbitrarily firing federal workers without a good cause and without hearings before the Merit System Protection Board.

Birthright citizenship

What the administration did

  • Declared that the Constitution’s 14th Amendment will no longer be interpreted as granting citizenship to babies born on U.S. soil to undocumented parents or other visitors and instructed agencies not to issue citizenship-affirming documents, like Social Security cards, to such infants.

What it could be violating

  • The longstanding understanding that the 14th Amendment does grant citizenship to such infants; a federal judge has barred agencies from obeying this order for now.

So being a non breeder type I don't have experience with this but it is wierd to think that I might have learned the feeling of needing to go to the bathroom as it just feels something akin to hunger. Which now makes me wonder if we had to learn that hunger means we should eat?
