I ran my Pebble Time into the ground, so I'm hyped as fuck for this. I bought it in my early highschool years and wore it nearly daily until last year when the rumble motor finally gave out. Still wear it from time to time, but it not buzzing for notifications is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

I bought a replacement and it's so pristine I didn't want to risk slowly damaging it at work, but now I'm charging that bitch up and running it into the ground until new Pebble comes out. Thanks for sharing OP, this news made me week!

Bonus, here's what mine looked like as of a few years ago right when the vibration went out. You can see I slapped a skin on it to cover up the bezel scratches, but the screen still looks totally fine!

Evoland games are a neat commodity. The whole "game grows in complexity" gimmick is pretty well done, and their chock full of references to games of the past. Definitely not the peeps I'd expect to make a massive space game that was actually good though.

Based. I really hope that it doesn't get overshadowed by the rumoured Oblivion remaster if it's real. You know Skyblivion would be way better anyway.

Happy new years folks!!

Thanks to everyone who has been participating in giveaways on the community in the last couple of months. Your participation is greatly appreciated, and as the sole mod of the community, it warms my heart to see so many people giving away great games.

Now for the matter at hand, I have a key for Superliminal, an excellent mind melting puzzle game up for grabs today. This game blew me away back when I played it in late 2020, and I recently snagged a spare key in a Humble Bundle, so I thought someone on our Lemmy community here might enjoy getting the chance to experience this gem as well.

Steam Store Page: Superliminal

Here's all you have to do to enter:

  • Comment on this post, and tell us what game you are the most excited to play in 2025. It could be one releasing, or one in your backlog that you plan to check out in that year.

I will randomly select a winner of this giveaway on January 7th, 2025 at 10am CST, so if you want a chance to win make sure you comment by then. Thanks again for participating in this little community and sharing the gift of games with everyone here on Lemmy. More giveaways from me coming soon!

If I had to pick some of my favorites:

  • BuzzKill, Gives you total control over your notifications. I use it to auto clear apps that think they need to have a persistent notification like VPNs, Smart Watches, etc.
  • DuckDuckGo, For their very useful, (In my opinion) app tracking protection proxy that they have built into the app.
  • GAMEYE, For tracking my physical games collection and my extensive Amiibo collection.
  • Grayjay & Revanced , For when I want to watch YouTube on mobile.
  • Image Toolbox, Great for doing a whole bunch of different things. Works especially well for image related tasks, but does more stuff than that too.
  • LocalSend, Airdrop but cross platform and open source. Really good.
  • Privacy, An app that links to your bank account and lets you make virtual cards to obfuscate your real debit card. Super useful as well for setting up with subscriptions so you can just turn the individual card off instead of having to go find the subscription cancel option for each service.
  • p!n, A very simple app that adds a quick actions menu button to pin a notification. I use it to essentially add reminders and notes to my notifications real quick.
  • rdx, A simple Reddit viewer for when I have to view a Reddit link for any reason. shudders
  • Shortcut Maker, Super useful app for when I'm not using Niagara Launcher. Let's you make home screen app like shortcuts for a wide variety of things, including going to specific settings, launching specific sets of apps, and way more. Used to be my favorite app before I got into Niagara.
  • URLCheck, Acts as a middle man after I click a link, telling me a bunch of info about it before letting me pick which browser I want to open it in.
  • Niagara Launcher, my launcher of choice. Not for everyone, but I have found it makes navigating my phone super fast. I have tried so many different ones, but the fact that the app drawer is always on open on the home screen and I can navigate to each letter quickly made it the best for me.

Anyway yeah, those are some of the ones I use frequently. Sorry for not linking to them, but it would have taken forever lol.

Not original commenter, but I got the hell off of Swiftkey after Microsoft bought it for privacy purposes. That could be why.

Had this phone, Google pushed an OS update that caused the bootloader to get corrupted on a factory reset. Tried to tell me I had to pay them to get the motherboard replaced even though their faulty ass update broke the phone. Three months out of warranty. Never buying a pixel again.

I'm so hyped for that DLC. I'm hoping it makes VS even more expensive and fun. It's a match made in heaven.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

That's my favorite Castlevania game!! Good luck with your runs! I'm so hyped for the Vampire Survivors Castlevania DLC.

I've also been playing with my buds WEBFISHING which is basically an Animal Crossing esc chill fishing game with lots of neat stuff to do. It's really fun to play just to hang out with your friends and chat.

If you want something more intense as well, STRAFTAT just released yesterday and it's fun as hell. It's basically a Free to Play (Not P2W) 1v1 arena shooter that's really hectic. It's got a really strange aesthetic that I really like and it's quite fun for a free little game. And if you end up liking it, you can throw the devs a bone and buy a $5 DLC that adds more maps, weapons, and cosmetics. They even made it so only the host has to buy the DLC and anyone who connects gets to play on those maps with those weapons for free. Really neat little game and really fun with a buddy.

Hello folks! Due to some of the serious AI pushes Notion has been doing recently, I have been trying to seriously migrate my video game tracker database over to work on Obsidian. I have most of the features from my Notion one ported over, but I can't for the life of my figure out how to use the Meta Binds plugin to replicate this particular button from my Notion database entries.

I know Meta Bind can be pretty technical, but I'm curious if anyone has any idea how I can replicate this functionality within Obsidian. My goal is essentially to:

  1. Be able to press the button, adding the current date to a property of the document I have labeled "last".
  2. Add a bullet point with today's date below the button, creating a list of dates that I pressed the button as I press it.

Thanks for reading my post! Any help is appreciated! I've been pouring over the Meta Bind docs to try and figure this out but so far I've had no luck.

Hello all! My buddy and I finally finished up Baldur's Gate 3 this week and we are not left with a giant co-op game shaped whole in our hearts. It was such an incredible experience and it was truly even more fun running through it together. We are excited to hop into another game, but we have no idea what to play. We've played a lot, and some games we've finished or tried recently included:

  • Borderlands 1, 2, and 3
  • Minecraft, Terraria, Vintage Story
  • Raft, 7 Days to Die
  • A Way Out, It Takes Two

I'm posting here today to ask if any of you have some suggestions for co-op games we could check out! I've Googled for suggestions to no end and 90% of what's there is games we've already played. If anyone has any recommendations for us they would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

~ Hyrulian

Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone!! I'm going to compile a list and check them all out one by one!

Hey folks, it's been a while! I'm here today with a giveaway for a key to one of my favorite games ever made, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. I am so excited to share this amazing game with whoever wins this giveaway! Be warned however, there are a few things you might want to consider before entering:

  • This game features some very intense content that some people might find disturbing or at the very least depressing. It also has some humor and imagery that some may find offensive.

  • There is some serious controversy surrounding the creation of this game and things that happened afterwards that lead to multiple followup projects being canceled and a very messy split with the original concept's creator and the company behind the game. Read more about this here if this is something that may concern you and sway if you want to play the game.

With that stuff out of the way, what is Disco Elysium? According to the Steam Page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/632470/Disco_Elysium__The_Final_Cut/

A groundbreaking role playing game. You’re a detective with a unique skill system at your disposal and a whole city to carve your path across. Interrogate unforgettable characters, crack murders or take bribes. Become a hero or an absolute disaster of a human being.

Honestly in my opinion though, this doesn't even begin to describe the chaotic intrigue that this game is. I highly recommend this one if you played Baldur's Gate 3 and want to play something similar, albeit a lot different in themes and gameplay. This is also quite a bit shorter.

Anyway, so how do you enter? All you have to do is:

  • Comment telling me what games you've been playing recently or what other
  • Wait till Friday, June 28th at 10am CST to see if you won! A random comment selector tool will decide if you win. If you do I'll comment on your reply to this post telling you to check your DMs where you will find the key to the game!
  • (Optional) Share this post with a friend or fellow lemming to let them get a change to try and win this gem.

Thanks for reading the post and thanks for entering the giveaway! Good luck folks! If you have any spare Steam keys lying around you want to get rid of, this is a great place to do so. DM me if you have any questions!

~ Hyrulian

Unfortunately the first two people I tried to send the key to did not respond to my message. I'll be trying some other folks in the coming days! Thanks!

Thanks to GitHub user zoeyjodon for dropping this incredible 3ds fork for the Moonlight PC game streaming client. You can run this software on any hacked 3ds (though a new 3ds is recommended) to stream PC games from any PC to your 3ds. Although it's not super useful for most games since the 3ds has such a pitiful screen, this is still a really cool piece of homebrew and I imagine running retro games from later than the n64 era could be really sweet. Attached is a picture of me running Super Mario Sunshine through Dolphin on my PC being streamed. There is shockingly a very low level of latency at play here. Just wanted to shout out this cool project. Head to the GitHub page if you want to check it out!

Hello folks! After seeing some anime art generated with AI, I felt inspired to try and generate some nostalgic Ghibli styled images myself. Here's some of my attempts at generating images with the following prompt:

Young woman tending to a garden, in the style of Studio Ghibli, landscapes, hand drawn, paint, art, 1980s anime, pretty

It's fun trying to use Studio Ghibli's unique style in some generations. Here's one with a more mature young woman with the same prompt:

I wanted to make an advertisement for a cheeseburger in the style of the art found in many Bibles and similar to the artistic style of Leonardo Divinchi.

Here's the prompt:

A cheeseburger, in the style of the bible, advertisement, hand drawn, Roman era art, Renaissance painting, old

I tried using strictly the style of Divinchi but it wasn't yielding the kind of result I wanted.

Warning! Spooky post!

I wanted to see what it would look like if the president was a skeleton. So I used Midjourney to remove all term limits!!

Prompt:

a skeleton as the president of the United States, in the style of CNN, political, podium, interview, news, television

Another interesting result:

Hello all, I've been experimenting with trying to get Midjourney to generate super heroes and here is one of my favorite results so far. Generated with this prompt:

superhero, in the style of comic book art, dramatic, contrast, vibrant, bold, thick outlines

Some other results, including a weird Batman Superman hybrid:
