Yeah, hexbear and .grad seem to be mostly tankie users, but it seems much more split on .ml. The admins are questionable, and I've seen tankies there disproportionally, but since it was the default instance for a long time, there are also a bunch of non-tankie users. I think lumping .ml in with hexbear and .grad really downplays just how bad those two are.

For example, I hope you wouldn't consider planning how to exterminate Jews allowable free speech. There will always be limits on free speech, the question is where your limits are.

When hexbear federatedn with SJW, I spent a day arguing Russia invading is bad actually, North Korea isn't a democratic utopia, and China isn't a shining pillar of socialism. Then I blocked them all because that was exhausting. So idk if hexbear is still so tankie, but they definitely were at that point.

You'll call some things free speech and others not. No instance is going to allow everything. You'd need to create your own instance so it aligns with your views. Then the other instances will decide whether they want your content or whether to defederate.

And picking any of the big instances is fine and easy. The hard thing would be hopefully you don't get a tankie instance.

Tinder loses users by making good matches, so maybe this algorithm will match people worse to retain them longer? But that is also what's keeping people from using the app in the first place.

Some dictators certainly did, getting regime security in exchange for valuable resources.

Absolutely, and that includes Russia. They don't get a free pass to exploit them now just because others have done it before.

Or like buying weapons? Just bartering for commodities?

For the 100th anniversary in 1954, Sylvania set this picture up with thousands of flash bulbs.

Apparently the fireworks were added in post.

What do you think? Can the low efficiency be overcome cost effectively?

Ian Davis has been working since he lost his fingers to design and build a mechanical hand. He's now looking for other amputees to help him test the design. It's a really cool project, I love following his progress!

Is there a way to get villagers with separated arms on bedrock? Would I need to write my own addon? I don't see anything built for that currently.

My end goal would be to get villagers to look like dwarfs, like this resource pack.

Tin in solder or some other meals can form spiky crystals when under stress. These whiskers can form short circuits if not properly insulated or not alloyed with other metals.

Apparently reddits nuclear subs are anti nuclear now, as they won't let this video be posted.

Stunning short film. Seems scarily plausible, we won't lose control of AI, the people in change just won't care enough to control it.

Anyone have tips on digital additive synthesis? I'm looking to define a curve for the overtone series to follow and generate and combine sign waves from that. Looks like there is a way in Python?

https://medium.com/@noahhradek/sound-synthesis-in-python-4e60614010da

Anyone have thoughts or experience with generating sounds in Python? Are there any artifacts I should watch out for? Is there an easier way to generate tones from equations for their overtone series? Thanks!
