Looking for a Lemmy instance with the following :

  • free speech friendly
  • federated with all instances except csam
  • allows bot majority communities

Edit: I would define free speech as speech that doesn't make an actionable call for violence. If some one the extremist instances have defederated then that's fine.

So, I gather what you're encountering is communities that are tossing out posts and comments that do not break any laws, on the basis that they find them distasteful. And you're looking for an instance where communities will not do this, but that is also federated with all of the instances hosting the communities that are doing this.

But to what end? If you are still trying to interface with those communities, the posts will still be removed. Being on a "free speech instance" doesn't insulate you from the rules of the communities you are engaging with. There's only an issue if you're finding yourself under pressure to change your own behaviour under threat of the admins banning you from the site.

You're looking for a space where you will feel welcome, but where one of the key defining elements is making it easy to ignore that local space.

I'm not sure you're presenting a coherent desire here.

I'm looking for an instance to move my community to where the admins will not intefear with how I moderate the speech on my community while still allowing people from other instances to interact.

I post this every time someone is looking for "free speech", and it has been completely relevant every single time.

It's pretty basic to understand why what you're looking for doesn't exist. Every instance that has rules for it's own users will defederate from an instance that prides itself on breaking those rules. So you're not going to find an instance that allows you to break the rules that most of the community agrees with while also being federated with everybody. You'd essentially have to create an entire alternate network.

allows bot majority communities

Fucking why?

Also: Changing the definition of "free speech" doesn't change how people will react to what you have to say. "Free speech" doesn't mean "free to say things that piss people off without being kicked out of the group/location or beaten up."

[–] [email protected] 20 points 3 hours ago

Your own instance. But don't complain if you get defederated

[–] [email protected] 52 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

You are not going to find "free speech" instances federated with everyone, because what you are looking for is an instance allowing bigotry and racism, things that most of lemmy don't like.

[–] [email protected] -5 points 2 hours ago (5 children)

I don’t like racism, but that doesn’t mean I want to forbid racist people from expressing their views.

Nobody is stopping people from expressing their views, but we're not obligated to view them, or give them a platform to say them.

They can still express their views.

Just not here.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 hours ago

So you are a racist. Got it.

I swear I have seen this "free speech instance" nonsense at least 3 or 4 times before this in the last month. All with similar combination of words. This is probably a same troll.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 hour ago

idHt you dont need a freeze peach instance only a freeze peach community [email protected]

[–] [email protected] 22 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (1 children)

You'll call some things free speech and others not. No instance is going to allow everything. You'd need to create your own instance so it aligns with your views. Then the other instances will decide whether they want your content or whether to defederate.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 hours ago

For example, I hope you wouldn't consider planning how to exterminate Jews allowable free speech. There will always be limits on free speech, the question is where your limits are.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago

Freedom of speech means you can say what you want (within reason) and the government can't stop you. It doesn't mean that anyone has to listen.

If you want to engage in what is largely regarded as hate speech, see where trump and musk post, they're pretty good at hating.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

The instance you are imagining will inevitably be inundated with the output of spambots. You don't want a completely unmoderated instance because it will just not be an enjoyable place (even for you! even for people who have no problem with getting exposed to "hate speech"!) to hang out on.

I think lemm.ee defederates from very little, that is the closest I know of, but I see that that's already where you are, so I can't help you much more than that.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

From the lemm.ee sidebar "No bigotry"

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 hours ago

There is no such thing as ‘free speech friendly’. Free speech is not absolute, and is defined / restricted differently across countries. So different instances will have to comply with their different local laws.

Also: an instance allowing comments doesn’t mean there won’t be consequences. For example: you can criticise the Thai royal family all you want on a US based instance, but don’t ever show your face in Thailand after doing that if you value your freedom.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

For the context: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/37235684

OP, not sure you'll find such a "free speech" instance among the popular ones. Maybe a smaller will accept you.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

What about the one with that privacy community that got vetoed?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 hours ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 hours ago

That was the one. Oh well, I'm outta ideas then. The Fediverse in general is a very trans safe community.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

The first amendment only applies to the government. Instances are free to do whatever they want.

[–] [email protected] -4 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

Ahh yes free speech was invented by the American government. Someone should come up with a philosophical idea about it shouldn't they.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 30 minutes ago* (last edited 30 minutes ago)

ronald reagan invented free speech liberal thats historic fact

[–] [email protected] 4 points 58 minutes ago

i mean, philosophical ideas aren't rights...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I'm unsure if there is an instance like that especially as you can't force for something is completely open to anything being said from federating with everyone. You are probably better off creating your own Lemmy server tbh.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I'd be happy with majority federation and free speech like how I defined in my edit.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

What is wrong with the instance you are currently on if I may ask?

The word Free Speech is often used to allow for hate / bigotry towards minorities in current day. So it'll good to know what you are actually looking for.

[–] [email protected] -5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Depends how u define hate/bigotry. Nothing wrong yet, I have a community on db0 but have been told to move cos I agreed with and didn't silence someone saying they beloved trans women have an advantage in sport. Im looking for an instance that let's speech go as long as it isn't calling for violence or hate.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Most instances don't allows spread of misinformation especially about minorities such as trans people. You'd be better off creating your own instance if you want to have 100% control over what you see.

For more information about that topic here's an article about it: https://www.gendergp.com/new-report-confirms-trans-athletes-do-not-have-biomedical-advantage-in-elite-sport/
