Get a prepaid with an eSIM with AT&T/Rogers (or any of their MVNO's) for maximum compatibility; cheapest the better. You need an eSIM compatible phone. You can verify this through the carrier's site from your phone.
Only need the IMEI and Account number essentially
Port the number to voip.ms
Do whatever you want with that number for like pennies a year.

While the name of the plans themselves can be misleading, the data cap is clearly listed along with the plans. 512Kb is enough for the likes of Lemmy, Email, RCS. Not trying to defend them but there must be better things to chase them for.
