My only issue with this statement is that it implies there were cats that sounded different from how domesticated cats sound now. I'm not really conviced of that. To my understanding they have a high pitch voice because they're small. For instance you can find videos online where they record a tiger "meowing" then they pitch it up to the register of a house cat. The resulting meow sounds nearly indistinguishable (other than the digital artifacts Inherent to doing such a thing) from a regular house cat's meow. Now tigers obviously didn't adapt to meowing like infants so my conclusion is that cats just sound like that and natural (human?) Selection had very little if anything to do with it.

These things always annoy the hell out of me. Not because they're giving the game away so soon after release, but because they always say they're giving the games away for free when they're not. You have to have a PS+ account to play these. If you ever unsub you lose access to these games until you subscribe again. My library of games that I own should not be a subscription service. If you're giving me a "free" game it should actually be free and not contigent upon a $70 yearly fee. Xbox used to do the same thing but you actually got to keep your games if you ever unsubscribed from live gold.

Yes, but the question is if they model their meows to sound like human infants. We know they changed their behavior to meow when wanting attention from us. But I'd be willing to bet they didn't model their meows to sound like that. They just happen to sound like that because they're small animals with high pitch voices.

In my experience running non-steam games through steam with proton is the best way to play those games too. The only time I've ever had to use lutris was when I had to install some DLC for a GOG application on the same prefix as the game because it had a separate exe installer for that DLC. I haven't been able to figure out a way to do that through steam. But once I got that done I just ran the game through steam and it worked perfectly. The heroic games launcher gets suggested a lot too but I literally have never been able to get it to work for a single game.

I never understood this whole thing anyway. The whole reason womens sports exist separately from mens sports in the first place is because women can't (usually) compete with the men. If there was a female athlete playing basketball for example that was way better than any other female player in the sport and that woman was able to be successfully competitive in the mens league in my eyes she should just compete with the men. If she cant really compete in the mens league she should play with the women. To my understanding there's nothing stopping a female athlete from being in the 'mens' league if she were good enough. This doesn't even have to be about gender. It just feels like you could look at every situation on a case by case basis and make a common sense determination based upon what works best for that particular athlete. I hate that this has become a stupid argument.

I would very much like you to show where the Constitution says that what the president says goes. The president does not have absolute authority. And should not have absolute authority over independent regulatory agencies. Even if you want to view the SC immunity ruling as correct (which is a ridiculous thing to think) complete immunity is not the same as complete authority. Just because he can get away with doing shitty things does not mean we should be letting him do whatever he wants. The president is not a king. He should be and has been subject to just as many rules as any other position in government. Checks and balances exist for a reason.

I was playing arkham knight last night on geforce now and I could not for the life of me get the fancy fog and debris to work. Every time I'd turn them on the game would tell me I need to restart. Once I did the settings would just revert. Even though I had the option turned on to have Geforce now save my game configs. At the time I thought it was a bug since afaik the 4080 they're using on their rigs supports these features fine. Now I'm wondering if it was an intentional choice to not allow those features on GeForce Now so as not to make the 50 series cards look bad.

He can't just "do it anyway" if people refuse to comply with his orders and the courts refuse to back him up. What do you think Trump is going to do? Walk over to somebody's desk, pick them up out of their chair, and physically throw them out the building himself?

"We got rid of the lidar sensors on our cars because they weren't needed. Instead we zip tied some gopros to the front. Trust me. They're just as good. You definitely won't die."

And this guys proposal isn't to punish the administration. It's to make the administration ineffectual by having judges ignore cases brought forward by the administration until the administration complies with other court orders.

For instance. Trump tries to fire a guy. Guy says "no you don't have the authority." Trump says "yes I do. I'll go to the courts and get them to prove you wrong." Courts go "don't care. You're ignoring [some other court order against trump]. We wont hear this case until you comply with the previous order." The result would be that the guy keeps his job despite whether or not Trump can or can't fire him. At least that's this guy's idea to my understanding.

I'm also not trying to say it would be effective or even remotely doable. Just pointing out that criticizing the plan for something it's not attempting to do doesn't make any sense.

I had to call Kaiser the other day to get a doctors note for work. Two second call where the guy asked me what I needed. I told him I needed a doctors note for stomach issues. No follow up questions. No medical advice. No attempt to find out what was going on or anything. Made up a doctors note for me and sent it to my inbox.

Two weeks later I get a $185 bill for "visiting their facilities".
