Yea I always hear people say just hook up a PC or Pi but I don't want a keyboard and mouse in my livingroom. The value of these Apple TV / Roku / Google TV setups is you have a little remote and a UI that is designed around it with big visual elements you can see across the room. I'm surprised there seems to be so little movement on something like this.
I guess one issue is apps. The likes of Netflix wouldn't support it.
Yea but in reality that bar is continuing to thrive and the vast majority of the patrons don't care and are largely unaffected by the owner and they still carry nearly all of their favorite drinks even if a few have been taken off the menu.
We opened a new bar down the road with some of their favorite drinks and many times these drinks are empty bottles unless it's extremely popular or Penguin Co. and instead of focusing on making it a cool new place to hang out it's just a bunch of bitching about the old bar.
I watch a lot of movies, usually around 150+ per year. Apple offers one newish movie as the .99 rental per week which I'm happy to pay for but when they come asking for $25 for a digital rental for the rest of the new stuff... Get the fuck outta here.
It's crazy that I can subscribe to Spotify and get virtually the entire history of music but video services have completely fractured the model into tiny shards. I will continue to watch my 150+ movies a year whether the studios want to offer a reasonable price or not.
Not just public events but private ones too. I just invited 30 people to an event this month. There's a lot of people in there that I don't contact enough on a regular basis to get their email. It's really tough to put something like this together without Facebook these days
