I know I got paid when I’m not getting those warnings on every purchase

[–] NotSteve_ 1 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

That’s an interesting idea, I may play around with that. I do plan on getting a swivel mount though for the tv so I can angle it towards my desk or the TV depending on where I am

[–] NotSteve_ 1 points 20 hours ago

I modelled the room and all the furniture in all the possible layouts I could think of using SweetHome3D and this was just the layout I found comfiest 😄. I especially wanted the sort of floating desk thing because I mess with things a lot so it just makes it much easier than when it’s up against a wall. It also gives me more space to work with things since I can walk around the other side of the desk. The TV is in a weird state right now admittedly. I plan to put it on a swivel mount but I really use it so little that I haven’t bothered buying a mount yet

Idk what part to explain but I can break down my setup:

Computers

Desktop:

CPU: Ryzen 3700x

GPU: RTX 3070Ti

RAM: 24GB DDR5? I cant quite remember

OS: Linux Mint/Windows 11/Hackintosh (broken) tri-boot. Mint because I’m too lazy these days for Arch

CASE: Hollowed out modded Mac G5 Chassis

Main day-to-day Computer

MODEL: 14” MacBook Pro M3 Pro 18GB RAM

Work Laptop (mounted under desk for storage, swapped out with personal laptop during the week)

MODEL: 16” MacBook Pro M1 Pro

That screen in the corner of the second photo

MODEL: Mac Mini 2014

PURPOSE: Proxmox Backup Server for my servers in the basement

There's also an HDMI over CAT5e/6 receiver and an HDMI switch connected to one of my servers in the basement but it's not really used right now. Trying to figure out how to setup a KVM switch that can switch between my basement servers but haven't put too much time into it yet

Displays:

Main MODEL: Asus 4K 160hz

Secondary MODEL: Cheap Amazon 4K 60hz

I switch between the laptops and the desktop with a DisplayPort KVM switch. The laptops get plugged into a powered USB C/Thunderbolt dock that one display is connected to (for some reason my M3 pro doesn’t like my second monitor though so it’s always just black)

Random Stuff:

  • Greg Sestero signed Big Shark by Tommy Wiseau poster
  • 2012 Macbook Pro Retina (got me through school along with a Thinkpad I sold o7)
  • Bong collection from back when I smoked
  • Model trains
  • Cool beer cans
  • Stupid amount of old laptops and computers piled up in various locations
  • IBM 5151 Display (the corresponding computer is in my closet)

I also have a cheap 3D printer

Let me know if you have any questions!

Fuck the rich, fuck the racists/sexists/homophobes/etc., and fuck any MAGAts who somehow aren’t covered by the previous

100% agreed

Thank you! I wish I had a more visible place to keep it haha. The actual door is to the right of the display case

[–] NotSteve_ 1 points 1 day ago

I rarely actually use it to be honest. I mostly watch things in my living room, but still, I plan on getting a mount that swivels out to face the couch

[–] NotSteve_ 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I get that, I wouldn’t do that either. It’s a closet haha

[–] NotSteve_ 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah... I've noticed that actually 😅. Luckily the sun only shines directly through my window in the early morning but still, I've definitely had my blinds closed a lot more since re-arranging things to this setup

These are the stats I found:

  • According to the most recent Gallup poll, Trump's job approval rating was 43% in May.
  • The Economist shows that 41% of people are favorable of Trump and 53% are unfavorable of him, according to the latest update from June 20.
  • Rasmussen Reports poll from June 20 showed 52% approval and 47% disapproval of Trump.
  • The Morning Consult tracker poll taken mid-June has dropped to 46% approval rating and 52% who disapprove.
  • Reuters/Ipsos poll reported that, as of June 16, 42% of those surveyed gave him a favorable approval rating of his performance in office.
  • An InsiderAdvantage poll taken between June 15-16 showed Trump with 54.4% approval over a 44.1% disapproval of his job performance.

From here

He has an almost 50% approval rating from Americans so while you’re technically correct, that’s still a ridiculous amount of Americans who like him

I guess it’s less the response itself but the response objects in the codebase. The main code base I work on is fully typed Python/FastAPI but we depend on an API from another team that was, up until recently, untyped entirely. The responses were just dictionaries that were dynamically generated randomly in 10 layer deep functions. There was absolutely no way to tell what they would actually return, let alone what types they would be. It’s like, if you see a function that’s just called get_big_fat_entity_findings() with no typing, how would you handle that without spending an hour reading through the code line by line? Typing is important for any project that’s bigger than a quick script

I swear every thread has the same 100 people in it so my upvote counter is pretty high for most people. Wondering what it’s at for other people on Lemmy. You tell me my vote count and I’ll tell you what I have for you :)

It's not for anything important but I host a stupid discord bot trained on my friend group's server chat history. It's pretty much just a lobotomized ChatGPT but it's a lot of fun. I'm looking to move off of OpenAI's infrastructure though to something that doesn't give money to the USA but it seems like everything is American.

Basically, I'm just looking for somewhere that I can finetune and run custom models. Does anyone know of such a place?

TORONTO — GameStop Canada says it has been acquired by French-Canadian entrepreneur Stephan Tetrault from the video game retailer’s struggling parent company.

Officially named Electronics Boutique Canada Inc., GameStop Canada says it will relaunch its 185 stores as EB Games Canada — a name associated with retail gaming from bygone decades.

Tetrault is the founder of Montreal-area-based toy manufacturer Imports Dragon and co-owner of American action figure-maker McFarlane Toys, and last month became a partner at Canadian chain Mastermind Toys.

U.S.-based GameStop Corp. said in February it was looking to sell its Canadian and French operations as it evaluates its international assets and doubles down on cost-cutting.

GameStop was one of the companies at the centre of the “meme stock” craze on Wall Street, which saw struggling brands’ share prices soar as retail investors made risky bets.

Its sales last year declined 27 per cent to $3.82 billion, though net income shot up to $131.3 million versus $6.7 million in 2023.

The original building was unfortunately gutted by a fire in March 1922 leaving only the outer walls. Architect Louis Parant was commissioned for the reconstruction who decided to build an entirely new building which included a remodelling of the Mansard roof into a new Beaux-Arts inspired model. The new building opened in 1926

A transformational shift in city zoning rules has taken another step forward, but some councillors worry people won't pay attention until it starts upending the look of their neighbourhoods.

The second draft of a massive rewrite of Ottawa's comprehensive zoning bylaw went through council's planning and housing committee on Monday, with only minor changes from the first.

It still axes rules that force developers to build a minimum number of parking spaces in new buildings, and only slightly walks back major increases to building heights and housing density in much of the city.

Central Chambers was built between 1890 and 1893 and designed by John James Browne of Montreal, an example of Queen Anne Revival commercial architecture. Formerly serving as an office for the Canadian Atlantic Railway, it now houses the National Capital Commission

It's not the fanciest ever but it's a building I walk by often and I always stop to look at the brickwork. The amount of detail that went into these town houses is just remarkable. Sorry for the low quality images, they're the only ones I could find. (Source)
