I think the major difference between even just Influenza and Covid is, that Covid continues to have a greater disease burden than influenza and a higher percentage of people with post-acute sequela of different forms and is less restricted to the winter months, having roughly two waves per year.

All together, why should we not implement strategies to reduce these numbers of deaths and disabilities? Especially if they would, in the case of better air filtration and ventilation also help tackle future occurances of airborne pathogens.

Ich sehe das so: Schlechter Luft zu entkommen ist schwer. Draußen natürlich. Und drinnen vorallem, weil die meisten öffentlichen Räume keine gescheiten Filtersysteme haben, obwohl das noch für ziemlich viel anderes sinnvoll wäre. Zusätzlich ist die Aufenthaltsdauer drinnen ja meist länger als draußen. Also Luftreiniger im Innenraum, wenn man die Kontrolle darüber hat, und draußen nicht stundenlang aufhalten? Aber es kommt ja auch immer drauf an, was da genau in der Luft ist, ob man relevante Vorerkrankungen hat usw.

I like lighthearted ones such as the Barber of Seville or "Zar und Zimmermann". If you want more oomph, The flying Dutchman is a great choice. I also like Carmen and Nabucco for some really catchy melodies and the magic flute is nice too. Depending on what language(s) you speak, some of those will obviously not be foreign, sorry :-D
