Can someone explain this meme to me?

Can I be an enlightened centrist and hate both designs?

I don't think you meant it this way, but I feel a bit uncomfortable that your comment plays into the "corrupt First Nations" narrative.

Of course, some First Nations have misspent funds sometimes, but so do Doug Ford and Danielle Smith. Ontario and Alberta are just rich enough to absorb mistake after mistake. Do Ontarians need oversight or can they govern themselves? Meanwhile, any mistake by First nations groups are scrutinized as moral failings, and stereotyped onto the whole racial group.

Just a reminder that first nations children receive less funding per capita for education and healthcare than non-first nations children. Due to the Indian act, first nations people get their services through the federal government, unlike other Canadians who get their services through municipalities and provinces. The feds have been underfunding these services for decades.

A lot of people seem to be under the mistaken impression that first nations people receive tons of charity or get a ton of perks. They don't even get equal treatment, much less any advantage.

Going up from 30 cents to 60 cents. Who in their right mind would decide to pay to drive and park downtown over a 30 cent increase?

That said, late night public transportation is pathetic, even downtown. We should improve service if we want less ridesharing.

It's amazing how much Christine Boyle alone gets done, all while having to fight frivolous lawsuits from Ken Sim. I really hope she runs for mayor and the left consolidates around her.

Unfortunately, I think vaccine mandates remain a sore spot for many in the electorate. I try to go out of my bubble and keep conservative or right-leaning friends/acquaintances, and it's surprising how often this still comes up.

OK, agreed. Please edit your original comment to say "Don’t get your hopes up, fellow people who bicycle to work in my area"

I dont get it. Big tobacco owns the vaping industry. So why would they sponsor an article that makes availability seem bad?

Wow that’s infuriating! In a supposedly free and democratic country.

This looks like what they call a bifurcation point in complexity theory, the point at which a small change in the parameters of the system leads to a big qualitative change. The environment has been absorbing heat and greenhouse gases but staying relatively stable. But this year, it feels like things have suddenly shifted to a new scary equilibrium.
