Omg. Yes. I heard the word "Hegemony" out loud recently and it was like a new world was born of only that word for at least a few days

Had a conversation with someone about how Acutane makes your bones turn green.

So for the past week, my head has been looping The Bones is Green in my head over and over and over.

Lovely

That's fair. It isn't a small room, for sure. I just like to be able to have clean floors.

And I suppose I really don't lounge in bed often. Hmmm good point

I do. And they're pretty good at not clawing stuff up, so I'm not too worried

What are y'all's opinions?

I like slatted for the idea of a French cleat system where I can put some shelves or lamps up without taking up floor space. But cloth is also nice for the comfort and it seems more 'bed space' appropriate.

I don't know how true this is across the board, but I'm an office worker for a power company and a lot of the people in my department are union because we work with the stuff around what the electricians and gas guys do. So maybe it's worth looking into jobs that support the trades to see if the workers around such are unionized as well?

For what it's worth, and more specificity, I do GIS mapping for electric and gas utilities in the area my company covers.

Maleficent in Kingdom Hearts 1.

Oh my god. I tried everything. Every potion combo, every magic combo, every adjustment of Donald and Goofy to make them heal or damage. Never beat her. And never beat the game.

And before that is the fight against Riku with that hours long unstoppable cutscene. "You'll never take Kairi's heart!"

In Colorado there was a burger chain called Red Top and by god, it was amazing. The burgers were the size of plates and they'd use shredded lettuce and the perfect cheese that was always so wonderfully melty.

And then they disappeared.

Similarly, there used to be a candy shop called Michelle's that has the best truffles and the best sundaes. But womp womp, they didn't pay some taxes and were shut down. No more candy. No more magic. No more perfect ice cream.

Depending on how your cat handles stress, you could probably just take it out with you to go wherever. But especially no one will blink if you spend all day in an airport with your buddy in their crate.

Is that a real dog?

Is that the set of Bear in the Big Blue House?

I left home at 18 for a job and it was like I ceased to exist to anyone that I'd loved before then. My old friends and my family completely seemed to forget about me.

So ten years on, I finally have had enough of this loneliness and boredom, so I searched through a reddit LFG for DnD5e online through Roll20 since I'd played it for a little while with coworkers and understood it well enough. Joined a group with a rigorous entry questionnaire and met a bunch of others that have been through thick and thin together now.

But in that group, one of the people was somewhat outward with their own troubled past that matched mine in a lot of ways. From there we got talking, and we started to become friends. And through a few games and a now a handful of years, they are one of the - if not the - most important people in my life.

They help validate my struggles and offer solutions when I want them, and they come to me when they need the same. I moved across the country to be closer to them and a few others from the DnD group and it's just really been life changing for me in no small words. I started therapy, I stopped being suicidal, I've grown so so much, and I've learned depths of love that I've never encountered before. I do have a crush on my friend and they know, but we're entirely platonic and as close as we can be (I think I'm just Demi sexual?? I just fall in love with people close to me even if it's not romantic).

From how they describe their end, they've experienced a lot of the same things and a lot of the same personal growth. Neither of us would be who we are today without one another.

Humans have stripes that are invisible to us. However, cats can see our stripes.

Wait. Please explain. How is DNA inside me, a verifiable human, not human?

Since the election I've kinda buried my head in the sand to try and stay sane, so I'm not sure what projections are looking like for the real estate market. Unfortunately I need to move pretty ASAP and I'm having the worst luck with rentals.

So, anyone have any advice or an idea of the outlook in the next few months?

I've got heart problems which means my feet are pretty swollen, so normal shoes aren't really comfortable anymore. I've been wearing Alterras and I love them and the wide toe box, but the wide sizes are only in a boring color. So I'm looking for suggestions from you lovely folks.

I can't find an actual answer anywhere.

I'm trying to declutter my desk and a KVM switch sounds like the right way to go. I have two monitors that I use for work/play, but I'm having trouble figuring out if the output from my work laptop dock would be okay to input into the KVM to then output to dual monitors.

Anyone got a clue or has any experience with this?

I love horror but apparently I don't vibe with a lot of recommendations I find online.

I'd seen so much hype about Event Horizon and I absolutely hated it and didn't find it scary. I just watched Late Night With the Devil and whole it was definitely enjoyable, it wasn't the least but frightening. I also just watched Let the Right One In and really didn't like it. It also was not a horror movie in my opinion.

I will say one of my favorites is Sinister or the first Conjuring. Sinister for the stomach twisting dread and suspence throughout and Conjuring for the same.

So, what movies do you find to be the scariest?

Dahlias! (lemmy.world)

Stumbled upon a rose and dahlia garden with a ton of different species. It was such a a gorgeous place and a gorgeous day. I took a bunch of pictures, but this one really sings for me.

Just checking in on y'all.

I'm stuck on this personally. I love my manual, I have a tiny little Mazda 2 and I have driven that thing absolutely everywhere because I can control it better than any automatic I've ever driven. But I've been casually looking for a new car and I'd love to have an electric, but I don't want to lose that level of control and everything I love about a manual.

What do you all think? What's your take?

I'm really stuck. I've been unhappy for years and we've done couple's therapy and tried to reconnect, but it's just not enough.

I have a bad habit of feeling guilty and responsible for everything and I just can't see a future where I hurt my partner so badly. I don't know how to sever myself from the relationship and alllllll of the stuff and responsibilities. My partner slacked off when it came to college internships so they've been unemployed for years, and now finally found a fast food job. But that means that if I leave, they're done for. They can't pay the mortgage alone, nevertheless the bills or food. They also mentioned in our therapy that their greatest fear is divorce and I don't know if that's because they're still so attached to me or if it's the fear of having to make it on their own.

How do I uproot their entire life over my unhappiness? That just doesn't seem like something I could possibly do... but I can't stay here, I'm withering away.

Help?

Or am I just the paragon saint of puppy love?

Seriously though, do y'all have a crush on each of your friends?
