i think whats missing is the ability to migrate a community to a different server within the federation.

part 2:

And who were my people in distress? Two ladies. Because, of course, in the grand comedy of my life, it had to be the opposite sex that I found myself rescuing while in my birthday suit.

The gals explained that they'd been downclimbing having decided to bail on topping out due to dwindling light the previous evening and had mixed things up a bit. They’d clipped into the belay station and, due to a rather crucial miscommunication, both of them had untied their ends of the rope. They watched in horror as the final feet of their rope whipped through the carabiner. They made a desperate grab, but it was too late. The rope slithered away from them like a drunken snake, tumbling down the cliff face to settle in a sad, defeated heap at the base of the rock. Their lifeline was gone, and they were stuck. and not feeling like trying the “free solo life” in the dark, they had a thankfully short night to think about the choices in life that brought them to this point. Little did they know, help would arrive early in the morning, albeit in a much more...uh...natural form than they were likely expecting.

The rest of the rescue, thankfully, was pretty straightforward. I belayed one, then the other, down to the next belay station. In turn, they would lower me down, getting a somewhat more... intimate view than they'd probably anticipated. Repeat the process a few times, and before you knew it, we were all back on solid ground. Safe, sound, and with one heck of a story to tell.

After the appropriate goodbyes—and a few bashful smiles—I took off in search of the clothes I'd so carelessly abandoned a few hours earlier. And with that, I retreated back to the safety of my camp, leaving behind two very relieved climbers and an emotionally scarred rock face that had witnessed a rescue mission it would never forget.

So, as the sun dipped down and the crickets began their serenade, one of the ladies from my earlier adventure decided to pay a visit to my tent. She was visibly relieved to find me back in the land of the clothed and not living the 24/7 nudist lifestyle. As it turned out, while she hadn't planned on getting a front-row seat to the Full Monty that morning, she didn't exactly mind the view.

She gave me her number, and we ended up dating a few times. But as often happens, life had other plans. She had her sights set on medical school—already having a hands-on lesson in human anatomy thanks to yours truly—and I was rooted in my Pacific Coast haven. Like two ships passing in the night, we drifted apart.

But hey, don't feel too bad. We're still pals on Facebook, and whenever I find myself back East, we make sure to meet up for a coffee or two. We reminisce and chuckle about the time the "Naked Avenger" swooped in to save the day.

Just another day in the life, eh? I guess there's a lesson in there somewhere—about preparation, communication, or perhaps simply about having a good sense of humor when you find yourself up a rock without a rope or clothes. So, folks, remember to always keep a tight grip on your lifeline. And if you're planning to climb in your birthday suit, be ready to bare more than your soul. And that, my friends, is the naked truth.

at this point, just get back onto a bike. Had major reconstructive surgery, and it's killing me to have all this nice weather and not even a single-century ride to show for it.

If i can help in any way, let me know. Let's get this going, it's been far too long since we needed to break from Reddit as a comunity.

I spent years as a top 100 mod, I quit last year and deleted my account realizing I was nothing more than a content slave. Just used my regular non-mod account after that. I came to realize how toxic that place is, and just deleted my Reddit account in solidarity with the subs not coming back. I've crossed the rubicon, I'm not going back to Reddit. Im spending the time to learn more about Lemmy and maybe see if I can get a server spooled up, or add capacity to lemmy.ca in some way. Im not sure how that all works if federations can assist other federations in capacity.
