The Devs are Tankies and one of them is a transphobe. Their development goals are problematic as they often refuse to or just don't care to implement feaures needed for effective moderation which other platforms like Piefed already have.

Getting people to move on to piefed and also migrate instances is the best way to help fix the problem of dependance with Lemmy. Once more people are using Piefed or mbin the problems with Lemmy's development and leadership will be less impactful.

The Devs of Lemmy are tankies, basically authoritarians who side with China and Russia. Also one of their Lead devs is a transphobe and donations to Lemmy as a project go to the both of them.

I was trying to convey that some people are against migrating due to data loss or having to restart their instance which I don't think is a good reason. I can change it though if it doesn't look good.

Because Lemmy's Devs have extremely problematic positions and Lemmy as a software is severely lacking in features which other platforms like Piefed have. Lemmy is just a poor experience, but also Lemmy fosters dependency due to it's widespread use, meaning it's harder for people and servers to branch out into other platforms.

No... I started a Piefed community to discuss Lemmy alternatives and problems with Lemmy, on Piefed, the superior platform.

Recently joined and started a community for people who want to move away from Lemmy and want to see Lemmy loosen its stranglehold on the threadiverse, if that seems like something interesting to you consider checking out [email protected]

Both really. Lemmy is incredibly lacking in feaures, and also their developers hold problematic views which both affect the instance they host and also their development goals.

Post here to this community if you wish to discuss alternatives to Lemmy such as piefed or mbin. Also post here if you'd like to see specific admins migrate their instances over to piefed from Lemmy. If you'd like to complain about the Lemmy devs, lack of features in Lemmy, or Lemmy Devs policy that's fine too. Really this is a place about getting away from Lemmy.
