You can see that there are a lot of ways to use "get", but OP, multiple of these examples are functionally duplicates of each other:

  • Obtain – I need to get a new laptop. (agreed)
  • Receive – She got a letter from her friend. (agreed, although this is another case of obtaining: "she obtained a letter from her friend")
  • ~~Buy – I got some groceries.~~ This is just "obtain" again: "I obtained some groceries" just like "I got a laptop." This one could debatably be its own thing, though.
  • Understand – I don’t get what you mean. (agreed)
  • Become – He got tired after work. (agreed)
  • Fetch – Can you get me some coffee? (agreed)
  • ~~Arrive – We got home late.~~ This is just "move to a place" (mentioned later).
  • Catch (illness) – He got the flu last week. (agreed)
  • Persuade – She got him to apologize. (agreed)
  • Prepare – I’ll get dinner ready. (agreed, but this is more broadly changing the state of something: "I'll bring dinner to a state of readiness.")
  • ~~Experience – I get nervous before tests.~~ This is just "become": "I become nervous before tests."
  • ~~Be punished – He got in trouble for cheating.~~ This is just "become" again: "He became in trouble for cheating."
  • ~~Be affected by something – I got sunburned at the beach.~~ This is again "become": "I became sunburned at the beach."
  • ~~Cause something to happen – Get the car fixed today.~~ This is the same type of usage as "get dinner ready"; you're changing the state of the car from unfixed to fixed like the state of dinner from unready to ready.
  • ~~Bring – Can you get the book for me?~~ This is just "fetch" again: "Can you fetch the book for me?" (or maybe this is under the "buy" usage)
  • Take revenge – I’ll get you for that! (agreed)
  • ~~Hire – We need to get a plumber.~~ This is just "obtain".
  • ~~Have permission – Did you get to leave early?~~ This is "obtain" or "receive" again: "did you obtain/receive permission to leave early?"
  • ~~Communicate with someone – I can’t get him on the phone.~~ This is just getting someone to a location or state (mentioned later).
  • Hear/see clearly – Did you get that message? (semi-agreed; a specific but semi-distinct use of "receive" and "understand" mixed together)
  • ~~Be in a certain state – Things got worse over time.~~ This is just "become": "Things became worse over time."
  • Escape/avoid – He got away with it. (agreed only since "get away" is its own very common phrase.)
  • Seize/arrest – The police got the suspect. (semi-agree; probably more broadly to "catch".)
  • Move (to a place) – Get inside quickly! (agreed)
  • ~~Make progress – I’m finally getting somewhere with this project.~~ This is just using "somewhere" as a metaphorical place which you've moved to rather than a real, concrete one.
  • ~~Be hit by something – I got hit by a snowball.~~ This is just "become": "I became hit by a snowball."
  • ~~Revenge/retaliate – You got me back for that prank!~~ You already mentioned revenge.
  • React emotionally – That movie really got me. (agreed)
  • ~~Do something successfully – I got the door open.~~ Same as dinner ready and car fixed.
  • ~~Escape from a place – Let’s get out of here.~~ This is just "move to a place".
  • ~~Make someone do something – I’ll get him to help us.~~ This is just "persuade" again: "I'll persuade him to help us."
  • Cause someone/something to move – Get the dog inside. (agreed)
  • ~~Understand in a deep way – I finally get why she was upset.~~ This is just "understand".

Β£10,000, but there's barely a distinction on this level of gross negligence:

Tests revealed that 3 out of 4 helmets failed safety requirements catastrophically, with one helmet recording results that indicated a 100% risk of fatality in a collision.

Pathetic to tout this as a win. That company should've been shuttered and had every penny of their assets taken, with the owners imprisoned and never allowed to do business again.

This is the website of that company, somehow still up of course: https://bikerslifestyle.co/

A comment that says "I know not the first thing about how machine learning works but I want to make an indignant statement about it anyway."

Sounds more like a win-lin result to me.

Specifically too it's very easy to steal in bulk. Sure scamming grandma and grandpa out of their life savings has way fewer safeguards with crypto than with fiat currency, but it's absolutely still possible without crypto and happens all the time. This is the monetary equivalent of stealing nearly 16,000 kg of gold – something unthinkable with fiat currency.

Also of note:

  • No drugs were found.
  • It's so dangerous because if drugs are there and a bag tears, an OD can be rapid and fatal. Harris additionally objected to the search, and thus it would've been unethical unto itself.
  • Harris had a history of drug violations, but the cops' only "evidence" something was wrong was 1) the SUV pulled up to a house they were staking out (what they presumed to be a drug house), 2) they claimed they saw a "white item at the entrance of his anus", 3) an officer purported to feel drugs near Harris' groin, and 4) a CT scan showed an object in the bowels but could not determine if it was foreign (again, Harris had no drugs).
  • You absolutely do not have to perform a cavity search; you can just wait for the object to come out naturally through a bowel movement.
  • Harris was seemingly held for two days (detained August 10, president of the hospital allegedly threatened the police chief to comply the night of August 12, Harris "shortly after" was issued a court summons and released).
  • Harris was charged with obstruction and tampering and is awaiting trial even though no drugs were ever found.

ACAB.

Who do I vote for if I want paragraph breaks?

That map is some real dataisugly shit. So many problems. The key is:

  • Historical (light red); Current (Red); Active and Passed (dark red); Passed (Black)

Problem 1) "Historical" is such a weird way to presumably mean "previously introduced and failed". It's both weird unto itself and because the other way of reading it would be that "this state historically used to have RtR but not anymore".

Problem 2) The decrease in brightness seems to indicate a trend toward "betterness", even though a light red to black scale almost always connotes something bad (e.g. a deadly virus).

Problem 3) The same decrease in brightness is problematic because it doesn't even follow itself: "Active and Passed" is lighter than just "Passed", even though "Active and Passed" is clearly stronger than just "Passed".

Problem 4) You don't need to call it "Active and Passed". If it's active, then no fucking shit it's passed. One legend item has three words instead of one for just no reason.

Problem 5) The "Active and Passed" jurisdictions have white diagonal lines despite the key not having these. Presumably this is to contrast it with the color of "Current", but like, you chose this color scheme??

Problem 6) The legend (from brightest to least bright) goes 3, 2, 1, 4. This is because for some reason, they decided to place the legend items in alphabetical order.

Too bad Datawrapper isn't FOSS so you'd have the right to repair whatever it did to this poor data.
