The Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within this Lemmy community?

Title changed from the original article title because it was kind of clickbait-y.

My favourite part is the quote from the Conservation Officer:

He said people should not approach wild deer — nor put clothes on them.

"I didn't think I'd have to specify that one," he said. "Usually they're pretty quick."

Man, actually hearing that someone is enjoying this place makes me feel bad for trying to give it away 😂

I guess if no one ends up wanting it, I could try my best to keep it going. As long as y'all don't mind infrequent posts. I'm trying to balance "Lemmy feeling like a job" with "actually enjoying Lemmy". Maybe it's my own fault for creating a bunch of communities (it's definitely my own fault lol).

Shitty? Bruh, that looks fucking delicious. I'd demolish that whole pan.

It's a great pollinator friendly plant and easy to grow (it just needs a lot of sunlight). I've been adding it as a filler in-between some of my shrubs and I'm getting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds! Fantastic little plant.

Hey bud - Looks like you forgot to upload an image. Feel free to resubmit again. I'll remove this post in the meantime.

Thanks!

r/place is an interactive art project run by reddit on April Fools. It ran in 2017 and 2022. Now they've brought it back for 2023 (it was supposed to have happened on April Fools this year, but various....things....happened). It kicked off again today and as expected, it's gained attention for the bad timing (protests, tone deaf admin, etc..) and people have coordinated to write "fuck spez" messages and other things (at some point, there was a guillotine + reddit's head).

Maybe it's just me, but I understand why TLC is releasing this season of TOW in the Monday slot. It's pretty...boring? The best thing that came out of this episode was a commercial that TLC is bringing back Strange Addictions.

Brandan/Mary - The only interesting couple so far. This last episode really felt to me like Brandan is caught up in sunk-cost fallacy when it comes to Mary. He's sent every dollar he's made to her. Something ridiculous like 50K?

Long haired girl/Wayne - I don't remember her name. Did anyone notice her scenes were really weird? When she was in the car with her mum, it sounded like she was badly reading off a script. Either the cameras are freaking her out or she's a really bad actress. Or something else is going on.

Dutch girl/whatever his name is - They're fine, I guess? They seem normal. I was playing on my phone.

Kenny/Armando - Why are they even on this season? They're already together as a couple. They should be on 'House Hunters International', not 90DF.

Kim/TJ - I already posted a meme about this. We're just doing the same thing for the third time in a row. Indian guy wants to marry an American woman but hides that fact that he wants her to be a traditional Indian housewife. We all know how this is going to go.

There's definitely going to be more reddit exoduses. Over the last 10 years, there were several moments where this could've happened but there weren't any viable options (except Voat, but that went to the Nazis 👎). Now that there's Lemmy, Squabbles, Tildes, etc..., I think people's appetite for putting up with reddit's bullshit is a lot less. I think the next big one will be when reddit introduces the new "awards" system in a couple of months.

I gave Lemmy a toque.

And then I was reminded of Bob and Doug, so...

Yeah, it's impossible to feel sorry for Tyray anymore. Part of me hopes he's keeping it up for the camera because I don't want to think someone is that desperately delusional.

Producer: You've been catfished. It's a man on the other end.
Sister: You've been catfished. Here's the pictures on an escort site.
Private Investigator: You've been catfished. The pictures are from a porn star/cam girl.
Tyray: Maybe she's real and it's her boyfriend/husband trying to keep us apart.

Where did all the 90 minute movies go? I'm up for a longer movie if it can hold my attention (I have the same problem of dozing off) but 90 minutes was the sweet spot. Especially because you could make a late night (10pm or after) snap decision to watch a movie and still be in bed before midnight.

I don't know if it happens all the time, but sometimes I've noticed that if you edit a comment, it'll add a +1 to the comment counter. Which in the case of that thread, it says four comments, but there's only three and [email protected] has edited their comment to make it four.

I think it's a bug when people from outside the instance where the thread is hosted edit their comments.

A recent example I noticed is that if I go to this thread it shows 8 comments (viewing from Lemmy.ca) but if you view the same thread from Lemmy.world it shows 9 because I edited my comment.

I knew someone who threw themselves off a bridge. Well, I knew their sibling. I was there when the call came through from the RCMP that they were missing. Then the call that the body was found. To say that it destroyed that family would be an understatement. I remember that my friend had to go down with their mother and identify what was left of the body. They were (understandably) never quite the same after that.

I don't know if I support expanding MAID to people with mental health issues or not. I have a feeling their sibling would've found a way to kill themselves one way or another. Maybe something more dignified would've been easier on the family? I don't know.
