Tbf to Dermot, there are different interpretations based on where the players' arms are. When the arms are closer to the body, the refs take more things into consideration as mitigating factors, including proximity and deflections. When the arms are above the shoulder they will often ignore those mitigating factors because they feel you were taking a risk by having your hands there.
