I think this place starts to feel dead when atrocities are committed, then we get zillions of the same posts, rightfully so because these things should not be ignored, but then it seems like nothing else is really happening here.
I agree with you on the shitty sources. The ones that spread misinfo will spam a wall of text with links to 'sources' and trying to call them out becomes an overwhelming chore. Then the extremely toxic 'did you read the article??!?' when the source is just some shitty opinion blog. It's exhausting, which is why they do it.

Does figma's logo...have balls?

I think it says a lot about the quality of these games that so many have remasters, remakes, or even an open source engine swap.

Wow so allegedly Krafton wanted to avoid paying a $250 million bonus by firing the CEOs and delaying the release. Quite scummy.

EndeavorOS is everything I wanted manjaro to be. It has replaced manjaro basically anywhere that I don't want to tinker with it like my media box.

Fine, asshole. Someone will clean up that trash, the town may end up paying someone to do it which may increase the tax burden driving out poor residents resulting in gentrification. There. Asshole.

So in my town there was a billboard with a voyager ad that featured Jeri. They added extra board hanging off the side of the billboard to fit her boobs. Like they could have scaled down or moved her over but they knew what they were doing.

Just watching people do normal tasks is depressing, like watch people at self checkout, it's painful. Surely not every person is experiencing self checkout for the first time but it hurts to watch. Same with watching other people use a computer (they get a pass on this one, not everyone has spent hours optimizing their workflow...fine. It's fine.) Seriously, just watch people do stuff, it's rough out there. These people can vote or run for office and I wouldn't take those rights away, it's just scary and it explains a lot.

This one is just a media box and also for light gaming, some games could be a bit smoother with just a bit more performance and switching to cachyOS binaries gave it that small bump it needed in most cases. If you don't count benchmarks that are measureable and repeatable then I can offer an annecdote that it just feels better.

If you don't want to store the media then yarrlist has a bunch of sketchy streaming sites that work well enough with an ad blocker.

I'm trying a conversion from endeavorOS with CachyOS repositories, it was pretty seamless, I can keep my settings and endeavorOS theming, and allegedly you can switch back at any time. The cachyOS wiki has a short script for converting vanilla arch or endeavorOS to use cachyOS binaries. Been running for about a week and haven't noticed any problems.

Yeah but chimichanga con queso though...

QGIS has quickly grown into one of those "I can't believe this is free" programs. 4.0 was a big step moving from QT5 to QT6. If you haven't tried QGIS in like 10 years I highly recommend seeing if it meets your needs. As far as I can tell ESRI hasn't done anything particularly evil yet but when I asked their reps what they are excited for in upcoming versions of ArcGIS all they had to tell me was my two least favorite letters. Just like any private company it's only a matter of time before enshitification sets in so if for no other reason than to avoid single vendor lock in you should give QGIS a try today!

According to the City of Boston 11% of all traffic in the city is from bikes. I think this is also due to the extremely cheap bike rentals that are highly available throughout town and driving here is a fucking nightmare. Now they just need to do something about the truck drivers actively destroying the plastic bumpers protecting the bike gutters and folks might feel safe enough to commute.

Allegedly an intentional bombing, not a lot of details but there are a couple low quality photos of the suspects out there.

base.dns.mullvad.net is my goto for devices that I don't manage often, like for family, but the last few days it will randomly just not respond for a few minutes and then suddenly be fine. I haven't seen any news about it and their server status is just for their VPNs. Anyone else noticing this or have any info?

The bad:
The springs on the stock seat are useless, I added a cheap suspension seat post to the stock seat and now it is sane, I dare say enjoyable.
The brake calipers are super close to the spokes, as the pads wear I've had to trade rubbing a pad or rubbing the spokes until I replaced the uneven pads. The pads also wear pretty fast, the stock organics only lasted about 400 miles, but they may do better if you don't enable class 3 speeds.
The top (fastest) gear is still not enough for the top speed, it is hard to keep up with pedaling in PAS 4+. I plan on swapping this for a better one.
The controller can't handle getting splashed, at all. A puddle splash was all it took for the PAS to start freaking out, it would cut in and out while riding and suddenly try to take off while walking. I put a short piece of pex tube under the controller behild the battery connection plate to raise it a bit above the drain holes and I haven't had a problem since but I feel like it should have better water resistance than it does.

The good:
The range is decent, I get over 20 miles with PAS 3 and below and about 15 miles with PAS 4.
The power is ok, it struggles uphill and as the battery gets low it struggles against the wind, at full charge it feels very powerful though. Overall I don't even break a sweat for my 11 mile hilly commute.
The derailer is great, feels very responsive, I haven't had to adjust anything from when it arrived.

Overall I'd buy it again at the $1k price point I paid but you can get much better used bikes for that price. It's a good entry level bike, the suspension seat post is absolutely necessary though.
