No part of that guy's comment is valid. He's not even the barest bit subtle about how badly he is distorting the facts.

Nobody is talking about any of these things: a gun that 1 tapped every enemy, infinite ammo, auto aiming, wanting every gun to become a 1 tap super weapon. It's not even part of the discussion. All of these are imaginary things this person made up. Somehow people are just looking at it and nodding instead of calling out the bullshit.

Bad straw man argument

I'm responding only because I think your insanity is amusing, btw.

I didnt read it?

Clearly you didn't read the article.

Pretty sure our boy Joel can manipulate the game server wide or get granular enough to give a specific player power ups.

HOW did you come to this conclusion if you actually read the article??! READ THE ARTICLE PLEASE. NB: do not confuse "Planets" with "individual matches" because they are not the same.

the rest of your novella of a comment

My brother in Christ. Nobody thinks this level of invasive bullshit is a good thing. You don't have to keep explaining the part we all already know.

Is there a name for the phenomenon when a company or group has access to all of the metrics for a product or good then makes foolish decisions using that information?

Right now Arrowhead can deflect all criticism of their actions by saying "we made this decision based on the numbers" while ignoring the fact that metrics aren't magic numbers blindly meant to be followed, you are supposed to use them to discover underlying reasons for why those numbers exist in the first place.

This patch is a big L for me and a bad omen for what is to come of this game if the devs are making their decisions like this.

Honestly, weak AF.

Part of the ongoing enshittification of Reddit is that companies have taken over their respective subreddits and are publicly controlling the narratives of their own products on what used to be a free and community owned forum.

Would hate to see the Helldivers community turn into the weird culty echo chamber that Ghost Ship cultivates with Deep Rock Galactic.

Warning people about kernel level access is valid. Nobody is disagreeing with that end point. Everyone is taking exception to the wild logic you used to get there as well as the fact that you didn't read the article.

Then they announce there is a guy employed specifically to manipulate players games as they play.

Wrong. Read the article before you make stupid comments.

I thought they were just paying someone to half assedly maintain MAL for the last few years, but it turns out they were paying someone to build a back end and create a browsable database so they can sell user's information for their own profit.

One of the original Reddit memes was quite prescient:
