Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Obviously the filthy casual didn't know how to parry.

Pfft. These kids need to learn somehow. What if you get called to a staff meeting but forget your staff?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

How can you call yourself a magi if your response to not having your staff on hand isn't to just start blasting spells from your bare hands?

[–] wise_pancake 1 points 1 year ago

The staff is the better weapon, the increase stamina generation while blocking means you can tire your opponent and force them to drop their sword, allowing you to defeat them more consistently.

OK, this is awful. But I don't feel bad about laughing as much as I did reading the story. What. The. Fuck?

Education in America today?

“Small arms practice, on the field, after school Friday; now, here’re your shurikens…”

Like not even wooden swords? And uh chemistry class? Teacher needed serious therapy.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

Nah, he needs some armor

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Definitely not the worst thing that can come from a chemistry teacher, but pretty damn close.

‘… and as usual, the first to draw blood, will get an A”

The worst thing about this entire thing is that their first and only response to this was to delete the evidence. One of their students was literally passing out from blood loss and the only reason they got any help is because of one the students sneaking off and calling for help.

Not by much. She has permanent damage to her wrist and will be incapable of many normal things for the rest of her life.

She experiences “ongoing daily” pain, “as it was not possible to fully repair” the nerves and tendons in her hand and wrist, the complaint says.

Daily tasks are now a struggle for her, including cleaning, preparing meals and taking out the garbage.

...

On a side-note, copy-pasting text from the article forces some stupid share link. I've never seen that before...

That’s just what you tell the insurance company.

And historically speaking, sword fights have rather more severe outcomes.

That was the joke.

[–] Vampiric_Luma 3 points 1 year ago

Maybe, but it's also very likely she did receive permanent damage from a sword. Lot of important bits in your wrist.

Like, I'm glad she didn't lose her hand or a limb, but she will forever struggle in life. That sucks and I can relate, so I hope she can overcome it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I wouldn't take that all at face value. Lots of reasons to exaggerate.

When did public school become the new, late, birth control method???

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Everyone is lucky that those swords were certainly blunt and didn't have a honed edge.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Blunt swords, notoriously famous for drawing blood.
