There's a whole tradition of Liberation Theology which brings together Christianity and Marxism. It was a big deal in the 1980s. I'm atheist myself, but there was some exciting thought and some wonderful people part of that movement.

I saw Midnight Cowboy when I was a little kid at the drive in theater with my parents. Didn't really understand it and I was unsettling, but I lived the song and Dustin Hoffman's "I'm walking here!"

I've been in a lot of political discussions on Xiaohongshu. It seems people learn a little Marxism even in high school and are happy to share about it.

Not everything has been super fabulous about China, but nothing critical of Mao, and a big consensus that living in China is kinder to people who aren't wealthy than the US

Just watched Nothing Lasts Forever, from a FullMoviesOnYouTube link of Lemmy.

Incredible 1984 picture but in a 30s style. Never released. Includes Dan Ackroyd and Bill Murray but they don't take up all the oxygen of the picture. Lots of great old timers in there too.
