Oh this is different, it’s a colour filter so that there is no colour at all on the screen. Everything is monochrome. It’s not just the wallpaper. That makes it harder to see those bright red, orange, yellow ads or buttons that distract at night

I’ve got a few on my phone:
- one for playing a sound when my phone is charged
- another for starting my Streaks timer when certain reading apps are opened, so that I can track how long I read every day across apps automatically
- when my Sleep schedule begins (when I’m going to bed), I automatically change the screen colour to grey to help prevent being distracted. When I wake up, it turns that off.
- I have one HomePod, and I don’t use it much, but it has a temperature sensor and when that goes over 25C I get a notification so I know to turn on the AC
Not sure how anyone gets away with 300 searches in a month, but I've been on a ~$10/mo plan (might be grandfathered) that has 1500 searches and I've never reached my limit. And I search a lot
I’m conflicted about Uber. They’re a shit company, and I don’t want them to succeed, but I want the other cab companies to up their game. Like a lot.
What would you pick over Unraid?
They're dumb, but in a fun way. I created my own preroll video with some music and a silly title card. For me it's a fun way of celebrating the work I put into my setup (again – I use a very dumb video), but also Plex's preroll logic alludes me. It doesn't run all the time.
Mostly, however, I have trailers play ahead of my movie. It's a good way of remembering what else is on my server.
edit: also why, for the love of god, does Plex not pre-buffer the movie during either pre-roll or trailers? It makes no sense!
Matt Dell will finally get the splash pad he's always wanted!
Honestly I'd like to see more family amenities downtown. I don't think that right now many families would be enamoured with hanging out in the square, but it's not always going to be that way. Seems like a good addition to downtown.
I’ve been using Kagi for the last year, and when that’s not available, duck duck go or starpage. Kagi is excellent. yes its paid, but imo worth the cost.
How soon is the IPO? New mods on the biggest subreddits would make those subs horrible for a long time while they figure out how to moderate it properly. Even when mods do their regular work, regular folks can get very heated about mod behaviour. Can you imagine that happening across all major subreddits, all at once?
We’re lucky to see some rain here in Victoria this weekend. I think it’s the first rain in a couple months. it’s scary to think this could be the last rain until September or something.
Yes? Isn’t it a regular crosswalk but also bicycles can ride across? Which imo is just a regular crosswalk with extra paint
