There is so much you can do about it, here's a simple suggestion: promote open censorship-resistant communication systems like Lemmy.
flork
When I meet someone who doesn't care, I work twice as hard to fix things.
I wanted to but everyone on Lemmy told me I was an idiot for wanting a feature Mac and Windows have had for a decade (decrypt on login) .
But seriously it's just not there on Linux yet. Either you encrypt and have two passwords, or give up convenience features like biometrics. Anything sensitive lives somewhere else.
I used to hate when people would suggest a "better" distro for a newbie but now that I've tried Fedora I understand and agree that it is the best. Specifically kinote but also silverblue.
EDIT: I feel I should clarify that IMO OPs pick of Debian is also really good
Thanks for this, so any 802.11r router would work?
oof on the expensive side but might have to do it. Were you able to install open wrt on it?
He won't just get rid of it, he will wield it as a weapon against anyone who criticizes his administration
This won't happen, what will happen is that he revokes the broadcast license of anyone who criticizes the administration and removes all consumer protections against privacy and surveillance. he will repeal section 230 for everyone except X and Truth social.
He's not going to "get rid of it", he's going to corrupt it. Give spectrum to the biggest donors, reverse net neutrality, get rid of antitrust, revoke broadcast licenses of anyone who criticizes him.
It was still a good suggestion thanks. Something with openwrt is preferred but anything that's not google is an improvement.
