A lot of times I'll get gaps when cutting a side too short. Now I'll try sneak up on the line with a few cuts and dry fit it in between.
A stop block on a miter saw or miter gauge can help get repeated cut lengths better than a pencil line.
The hand tool alternative is a plane and shooting board. Might need a dedicated 45 deg jig or donkey's ear depending on the size of your pieces.
Somewhat unrelated, but you can get a cable protector to conceal the power cord a bit.
For breaking down 2x4s and rough cutting sheet goods, I just have a cordless Craftsman that has a lever depth adjuster. After 2 years of regular use I haven't had any complaints about it. DeWalt or Makita are also pretty popular. IMO prob the bigger consideration is which battery ecosystem do you want to jump into (if going cordless and not already in one).
On the other end of the spectrum, the easiest depth stop I've used is on festool's track saw but that's going cost a lot more.
"Correo de las brujas" translates to "the witches' mail" and means gossip or rumors. Kind of like "heard it through the grapevine" or a "a little birdie told me"
Nice shot. Loved the Olympus micro 4/3 line, really fun cameras and super light.
Is the 401k plan from your previous employer? I'd first check if your plan admin will let non-active employees take loans out. Otherwise, if it helps your decision, the interest accrued from a 401k loan goes back into your own account, so it's like you're paying yourself interest. The main pitfall would be making sure you can pay it back on the agreed upon schedule, otherwise you get penalized. Also, while your money is removed from the market, you're technically losing out on potential growth, but sounds like you'd benefit more from having access to the money now.
Honestly, if it were me and it would set me up for a career and I probably would do it and just make sure to contribute as much as I can to my retirement once I'm able to. Some alternatives would be a credit card or retailer with a fixed fee pay-over-time feature or a 0% interest intro offer. Failing that, you may just to get creative (sell things, pick up some side gigs, etc.)
Oh really? That'd be welcome news. I'll have to try it again. I tested it yesterday and got an Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender
from my sender email account's mailer daemon.
For email, I landed on Tuta as being the closest in feature parity and signed up for the €3/mo plan. Been pretty happy so far and was pleasantly surprised to see both the email and calendar apps were available on F-Droid. Personal bonus for me was they also run on renewable energy.
So far the only con I've found was lack of support for +aliases (e.g. [email protected]) but the 15 additional email addresses help to offset that.
Awesome, glad to see some positive news about the environment.
There's a similar project going on right now led by the Philippine Eagle Foundation to reforest native habitat. They partner with indigenous peoples to plant and maintain the trees. You can adopt a single tree for as little as ₱250 (~$4). They even give you a way to track the trees you've donated 🌴🦅
Yep, I'm starting to shift more of my online time to fediverse apps. I agree that it's refreshing to see the internet back in the hands of regular people who just want to create, share their interests, and be entertained.
Compare that to corporations who just want to extract as much value from you, keep you addicted to scrolling by tuning their algorithms to feed you polarizing news, and track and sell your personal data. The last straw was seeing these billionaires change their company cultures overnight to kowtow to the current administration.
I remember the internet in the late 90's and early 00's. The fediverse gives me a little bit of that nostalgia vibe. I hope it stays active and gives people an alternative to the walled garden dystopia companies have turned the current internet into.
yeah, I'm actively avoiding products that tout AI. It's a worse experience and my data gets used to train some model for some company's enrichment.
Installed an All American RO from US Water Syatems. Been pretty happy with it, no issues in 2 years and their how-to videos and customer support is excellent if you want to install it yourself. Even bought one for my parents house. The 6 stage version includes a remineralization step, they call it Livation.
