I'm opposed to this oversimplification, even if he's a confirmed Russian asset we can't just imagine that erasing Trump and Putin will solve everything.

Fascism has reared its head and it wasn't just due to Putin and Trump. Real systemic change is required in the politics and the economy of the United States.

If they just go back to Bidening things up after Trump and assume everything is great there's going to be a very rude awakening.

We can't keep iteratively adopting Fascism, technological advances and the interdependence of the global economy has already made it so this time might destroy us all. Next time definitely will.

Sorry I've been imprecise again, I meant the root comment that's from Lung.

Fair enough, I'm not going to do a background check on every poster but I see that I was lumping your response in with the originator of the thread and could have given yours a more charitable interpretation.

A Canadian state likely won't survive a war but the Canadian insurgency would be worse for Americans than anything they've dealt with before. We have tons of wilderness and the world's longest and currently poorly defended land border. Afghanistan and Vietnam were domestically unpopular halfway across the world, now imagine the same quagmire miles from American population centers with frequent strikes in those population centers by Canadian insurgents.

It's not for "asking a question"

  1. I suspect the professionals looking into this potential fraud are going to think of these things.
  2. when and how hard you choose to play devil's advocate says something about you.
  3. whether well intentioned or not this is Musk apologia at best, and excuses/misinformation at worst. I think our Transport Minister does basic diligence before asking for an investigation and having the story in the media.

We're all used to these "centrist" / "just asking questions" types and how they only crawl out of their holes to play devil's advocate for fascists, it's tired.

not exactly, it's not theoretical this is how stuff has worked before. someone can be banished from a society and become a persona non grata that can't get support from anyone.

you're acting as if something that's actually in our history is unimaginable

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (3 children)

That's not necessarily true, those people can be banished from a community or even violently resisted depending on your flavor.

And even if you take your statement as fact, isn't that a much easier problem to solve than what we're dealing with now? Maybe some limited prisons for the worst offenders might be our only compromise

by its nature there's a lot of free content online.

https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/peter-gelderloos-anarchy-works isn't a bad start.

The works of Kropotkin are on there as well. Conquest of Bread is a banger.

Anarchism is the better version of libertarianism. Left-anarchism gives all of the liberties but without capitalism. If only capitalist realists could get past that hurdle.

You're in a fantasy world fighting straw men of your own creation, dividing and attacking amongst those that oppose Trump. You're a "vote blue no matter who" boiling frog who is more eager to attack the people demanding more from both parties than to stand up alongside your leftist brothers and sisters fighting fascism.

You're a vote-obsessed political agnostic who doesn't understand that progress and political action don't start and end at upvotes and paper ballots. You're crying with your tail between your legs waiting for the fascist to let you vote again.

Your contributions aren't needed or useful. Your divisive and confrontational attitude towards those left of you is helping Trump at least as much if not more than those you're criticizing.

If an Arab American or someone with actual loved ones who are dying in Palestine or someone who otherwise can't bring themselves to vote for genocide enablement chose to vote for neither red nor blue they're not my enemy, Trump and his kind and people like you who enable Democrat complacency and the ratchet effect are my enemy.

If you cowards joined those you mock in ACTUAL political action the Democrats wouldn't all be neutered 100 year olds.

Italian fascism, i.e. the iconic original fascism, absolutely had corporatism as part of its definition. To their credit, it involved not just business owners and employers but included employees at the table, which is better than American billionaire oligarchy.

It's not the universal and core definition of fascism but that's not what I said, it's an alternate definition which has applied to historical fascist regimes. Fascism is a far right ideology. It's not just classes and hierarchy or authoritarian government and nationalism, it's a fuzzy intermingling of many of those things.

The "simple" part of the definition is that it's a far-right authoritarian regime, which contradicts the oversimplification at the top of this thread.
