Anyone interested in this should really read Ratf**ked, it goes all into how a couple of dudes realized they could use the 2010 census to remake America for a tiny fraction the cost of what a party normally spends on one presidential election. It's like a plot straight out of a movie.

Ok, getting Linux setup as Windows enshitiffication continues...I installed Arc Menu and it's almost perfect, but the app categories have mostly themed icons, just a few of them don't. Any way to change these last 5 icons on the far-left side?

EDIT: Solved. Took me longer to figure out than I want to admit, but in my case, those category icons were coming from Zorin OS's built in menu settings. So I launched the "Main Menu" from Arc Menu, which brings up Zorin's menu editor.

Then clicking on "Applications" shows the categories, at which point I could right-click on a category, then "properties" and click on the icon

The system icons are stored at /usr/share/icons -- browse to the right icon, select it and restart gnome (or log out and log back in)...everything is fixed. Hope this helps someone else save a bit of time down the road 🀷

Yeah, but it's Joe Biden...he admitted to war crimes, but he didn't realize he was admitting to war crimes.

Whoever downvoted this amazing joke is a soulless monster.

Reminder, any time someone tells a racist joke they insist isn't racist: ask them to explain why it's funny and watch them squirm.

I once installed Linux to the wrong drive and lost all my files...it cost me $100 for the recovery software and 3 days to recover most of what I lost...and words can't describe how pissed I was...I'm pretty sure if I magnified that by 12 years and $742 million, I would lose my damn mind.

Me googling "Fon du Lac" to see if it's in Florida: Nope, Wisconson...good for you Florida, you dodged this one!

For anyone who doesn't already know the good FOSS alternatives:

Zoho mail + office suite + cloud storage/sync is only $3/month and good encryption and Mullvad VPN has locations all around the world, fast speeds, and a proven dedication to privacy for €5 a month.

I signed up a couple months ago without issue...not sure if there's a backlog since then.

FYI: If you're looking for a TikTok alternative. Loops.video is available in early access -- from the makers of Pixelfed -- and will be federated and open source once it goes gold.

Kroger and Albertsons both do this constantly...I check my receipts every time before I leave the store...about once a month I catch something that was supposed to be on sale...but wasn't.

Are they doing it on purpose? Who can say...but yes.

I'm trying to host a few docker services from my house, but my IP appears to be blocking port 80, so the only way to get a domain working that I've found is domainname.com:portnumber (I have port forwarding set up in my router, and can reach a wide range of ports, but not 80).

It looks like cloudflare will point sites to my IP but not ports, and because I can't reach port 80, I can't figure a way to route things through NGINX proxy manager on the same box.

Is there a free external service I can use as a reverse proxy to point requests to specific ports on my self-hosted box? Or else, is there another way to make my sites useable without the enduser having to specify ports?

Because facts don't care about my feelings, here's a video with lots of sources included on the dangers of a second Trump term.

Xobni used to integrate with Outlook/Gmail that scanned your e-mails and gave you a sidebar with Contact photo, e-mail, phone #s, social profiles, show your e-mails with them, show attachments exchanged...Yahoo bought it and promptly killed it years ago...is there any add-on or just e-mail client that is like that these days? I miss it.
