The Google Translate camera things puts big obvious rectangles of text over the replaced text, not this AI slopfest

Yeah, same, can't get my friends to quit WA

You would have to recalibrate your interactions, or you'd be breaking things and people constantly.

I used three Meta products:

Whatsapp, Facebook Marketplace, and Instagram. I've completely gone off Insta, I only really used it to see posts and reels my friends sent me.

I don't really know an alternative to WhatsApp and Marketplace that I can use. I'm very careful to not interact with any Facebook advertisements on Marketplace though.

Any friends of mine who got a framework 16 would be at risk of losing an expensive laptop

My old guy's battery is still fine (for reference, fine means about 2-4 hours of screen time, which is about the same as new) but that's only because I keep it locked to 60% and use it as a desktop. I also would want to upgrade to a framework but god they're pricey. Especially the dGPU ones.

Yeah I'm daily-ing a laptop from 2019 with an i7-9750, a GTX1650, and 16 gb of RAM. No upgrades except storage. The GPU is the only thing that sometimes makes me go "hm."

Yet Israel is also committing a genocide at this current moment. Even more so since they've blocked humanitarian aid to Gaza. All 3 points you've stated are really basic freedoms that aren't really anything to celebrate or brag about in 2024. The post is about a state currently run by an extremist terrorist organisation that seized power. Comparing this to freedoms afforded by a democratically elected government in order to justify a defense of a genocide of people in a different country more than 3000 km away who happen to share a religion with the former state is honestly bizarre.

I respect your opinion but I'm surprised. Mostly because I found Into the Wild as a really beautiful visceral cinematic experience. It is my favourite movie of all time. I suppose it doesn't connect with everyone like it did for me.
