Not sure about Debian, but on Arch Linux, hibernation with FDE works perfectly on my Framework laptop. It took a little to setup; I use a swapfile for my swap. And it exists on my encrypted drive. You know your use case best,I found for my usecase, a separate swap partition (to say nothing about two separate ones) was restrictive and unnecessary. A swapfile works well and lives on an encrypted drive. No need to tinker too much beyond that. Check out the Arch wiki, it might not align 100% with Debian but those wikis are super informative and can teach you how the process works so you can apply to Debian.

The intro to the first two seasons was amazing. But the upbeat change for seasons three & four took the theme from the best ST opening theme to the worst.

For sure, definitely an interesting way to think of property taxes and how to encourage people to not have frivolous space.

For sure, a thorough study of what Canadians need would be helpful to something like this. Could inform what a good space to person ratio could be. Especially in Canada.

Maybe not no taxes, but less? Could be an interesting way to tackle low occupancy rates. If it's possible to pay no taxes at all, it might cause people to sardine can a house to save on $.

There's an idea I hadn't thought of before. I wonder if there's any studies out there about how much space a single person needs to be comfortable. And how that'd change base on how many others are in the same space. Could be interesting idea to tax people based on their space to people ratio 🤔

Checkout Toshy. This has been a life saver for me.

Yeah you'll be hardpressed to find polling data. Not sure if anyone is even polling people to get a picture of who's leading.

I've taken up the strategy of voting for candidates who will bolster the party I want to see more of. So comparing the list of candidates: https://votemate.org/vancouver2025/candidates/?riding=762

To the current council: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vancouver_City_Council#Since_2022

I'll probably pick someone based on that. Doing your own research for municipal level is quite difficult unless you go out of your way to talk to/interact with candidates and to attend the all candidate debate. Finding videos online hasn't been easy either.

Good luck!

For sure. It's good to know. But not a huge compromise considering we are talking about still using a flavour of Android and play services.

My instance has a bunch of pinned posts that stay pinned for a while... I typically use Card view which means those posts take up a lot of space!

Would it be possible to make pinned posts all compact in card view?

Or maybe letting us change between compact/card view for individual posts. Maybe that's a bit overkill tho. I really just want it for pinned posts 🥲🙏

PS: Thunder is so awesome. The experimental unifiedpush (and the thunder server!) is an awesome addition ❤️

Hi y'all. I've just switched back to Android and I am trying to find a more modern SSH client (supports Fish Shell). I have a license for JuiceSSH from before but I notice it doesn't play well with my servers fish shell. Anyone have any good recommendations for SSH clients that are FOSS and recently updated?

EDIT: recommendation by @[email protected]

Using Termux (with styling add-on) from F-Droid. Installed OpenSSH and using SSH that way. 🤓🙏

Hashtags on Home feed (self.pixelfed)

I'm following #Vancouver hash tags and I don't see anything showing up on my Home feed; there's been new posts since following the hashtag though. Those new posts with the hashtag should be showing up on my Home feed right? I know they do on pixelfed.social.

I see a post on my pixelfed.social home feed for an account @pixelfed.ca that has #Vancouver in the post.. but on my pixelfed.ca home feed, I'm not seeing that post. I can search for it though? Is there some kind of home feed setting I'm missing?

Does anyone else have a similar experience with following hash tags that aren’t showing on the home feed?

Will the import feature be enabled at some point? I want to migrate my photos over, would be good to use the import function for that 🙏

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm noticing on the latest beta, that some posts (haven't found a pattern) will open to a completely unrelated post.

Actually... usually it's related to [email protected], I'm not sure why (I could be wrong too). It's something I've noticed maybe 5-6 times in the last couple of weeks?

I've linked to a screen recording, hopefully it's obvious to you @[email protected]

Latest share action to Open Lemmy links in Arctic is super handy! Thank you @[email protected] !

I notice that “Open In Arctic” has “in” capitalized, but every other share action on iOS seems to be sentence case. Any way you can make the new Arctic action match the other share actions? 🙏

The latest icon in TestFlight is gorgeous! I am loving the ~~mountain~~ iceberg 😍 is there anyway we can get a few variations though? I would love to get that mountain on a orange or reddish background if that’s simple to do 🙏

I'm trying to use ProtonVPN to set up split tunneling so that my tun0 is the only network device that is protected by ProtonVPN. I need this because I have file & web servers running on this Linux box (Ubuntu).

With previous VPNs I've used, I would use OpenVPN and add to the openvpn config and this work the way I intended:

route-nopull
route 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0

With other VPNs I'd just run

curl --interface tun0 ip.me

And that would return a VPN ip address.

For some reason, ProtonVPN seems to be blocking me from using the same workflow. Is there a working guide for ProtonVPN to do what I'm trying to do?

Is there anyway to display the name and instance of the OP for a post in the Home feed? I see the name displayed for Community feeds.

The biggest feature I notice missing in almost all Lemmy apps, is jumping to the top on the first tap of the tab icon of the view you’re in.

E.g. you’ve scrolled down a bit while in the Posts tab, then you tap the Posts icon, in Apollo, it would jump to the top of the list view in Posts, then second tap would take you to the communities subscribed slideout view.

Avelon does the second function but not the first. Would love to see this added as it’s a great quality of life feature IMO.
