They still have a tone of open-source stuff. It's just that not everything is open-source anymore. Meaning, since everything is not public, we have no way of knowing if this private piece of software is what they say, or anything else actually.

Signal's encryption was great. Still, for some years now they are not 100% open source and they still advertise themselves as open source.

I believe Erdogan is very calculative ~~but I don't see him want to even pretend for any sort of reconciliation with Kurdish people.~~ Maybe Erdogan is doing this move to get in a more favorable position with the US? In the sense that PKK is considered a terrorist group, so by "solving" this issue now, it sort of resets the US-Turkey relations with Trump.

Also, to my knowledge, Ocalan is very respected in Kurdish populations, so one announcement of the kind could be influential for Western Asia. More specifically where Kurds are, Syria, Iraq, Iran, not only Turkey.

Not sure, just speculating.

In representative democracies, every 4-5 years a government can be elected that changes policies to a totally different direction. This is a feature of the system, not a bug - so no surprise there. When the system is rotten from within, even fascists can get elected.

For me, this is one more proof that reforms don't work and systemic change is needed. As long as we (the people), don't take the decision making power in our hands, this is what we'll keep getting.

I will not directly reply to your question, but use it as an input to share a couple of thoughts..

The current economic model has infinite growth embedded in it and the planet is finite. In a way, it is expanding in a colonialist manner. Also, it is the predominant one all over the world. This is why we have a triple planetary crises: climate change, biodiversity loss, as well as pollution/waste.

Personally, I don't think we need an economic model to organise societies. We need a societal organisational model, or many actually, that are based on horizontal decision-making processes, as well as sustainability. How to get from here to there, I suppose it's whole another topic.

In this article, it says through photosynthesis which is quit different. Personaly, I find it accurate enough in the sense that photosynthesis is a process and this is not a scientific paper.
