got the soundbar for free with the TV awhile back. It performed ok in my small room but I hate the inconsistency of volume and limited flexibility. Is it a good move to 3.1? Thinking of going 3.1 route as below:

Already have: (currently my office set up for lite use)

  • Yamaha TSR 7850
  • Pair of Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2

Looking to buy:

  • subwoofer (open to suggestions for a small living room setup 14ftx16ft)
  • Elac Debut C5.2 (is this enough for center channel? or should I spend extra for the 6.2?) only reason is I found a used C5.5 for $100

I need some expertise and advice. On the basis that RFI, dirty power and DC is bad for sound amplifiers and HT tech in general, the supply needs cleaning or 'conditioning'.

  1. What is the best ''bang per buck' solution ?
  2. Can a separate 'DC block' be connected between wall outlet and a mains conditioner multi strip, and give the same benefits of a combined unit ?
  3. I currently use a mains conditioner strip and see it has a parasitic loss of 30W continuous. What is actually happening? Many thanks

I am shopping for a reliable 7 channel receiver. At least one that has the latest bells & whistles; such as HDR10+, HDMI 2.1, DTS:X etc…

Out of all the major brands out there, which one is the most reliable? That will last a really long time.

I have Yamaha receiver transit my picture from Nvidia Shield to my TLC TV. My Tv support HDR+, and when I played an HDR movie, the tv screen shows at the top HDR sign, while I am not confident that my HDMI cable either from my shield to receiver or from receiver to TV is a 2.1 or 2.0 HDMI cable because it is quite an old one found it in my store. How to know if this HDMI cable is 2.0 and not 1.4.

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a C3 and am in love with it, but need to start putting together a soundsystem to accompany it.

I'm buying in the US and have read many threads already about 3.1 systems, but am smashing together different pieces of advice from random internet audiophiles and it can be hard to know if I'm allocating the money correctly.

There seems to be a fair amount of agreement surrounding the Denon AVR-S760H. Currently, it is on Amazon for $450, which seems like a pretty good price if I don't want a refurb.

Also, seems to be a consensus around the subwoofer being the piece worth spending a little extra on and everyone seems to love the SVS SB-1000 at $600.

The part that I get lost around is the left, center, and right speakers. I'd prefer to not just lay a bookshelf speaker down on its side for the center speaker, but I also see that center speakers are weirdly expensive compared to the good deals you can find on LR speakers. I want bookshelves over towers, and have to admit I like the look of Klipsch, but have also read all the suggestions against Klipsch. Already spending a grand on the Sub+Receiver means I'd like to spend less than $750 for the bookshelves+center, and around $500 ideally.

Is there an obvious mistake I'm making? Would it make sense to hold off on the Center and spend a little more on LR and start at a 2.1?

I'm rambling a little bit, but any recommendations are super appreciated.

I have a Samsung 5.1 Home theater system (HT-f5500k/HT-fE4500k) 1000W. When I use it with bluetooth at a high volume it always reduces the sound by a lot after a really loud bass part in a song. But when I use it with a digital optical cable it dosen't. This does not happen in normal volume but always happen in higher volumes. I am so confused.

Can someone help me please?

I recently picked up a pioneer VSX-37TX, for my setup. The volume nob on the reviever works when I turn it but won't move or adjust when I use the remote to turn the volume. What could be wrong with it?

I’m a few year out from building a semi-dedicated home theatre with a wet bar and “mancave” feel for hanging out with friends. As much as I would love to build one now I have other priorities financially right now. I do however love this hobby and spend a fair bit of time researching but still have lots to learn.

I was looking into JTR speakers, specifically, the 210HTs and 210RMs and it got me thinking about compression drivers. The RMs include a coaxial compression driver instead of just a compression driver in the HTs. Obviously this adds a more detailed sound especially at the crossover ranges. How much of a difference does a coaxial compression driver make? Does it justify the extra $1,000?

Welcome Homethreater people!

I am venturing in to a projector. I just painted my entire television room black.

Projector screen (120” fixed) is on the way and picking up the Epson 3800 tomorrow.

My question, I use a sound bar. A fairly high end on currently, I don’t want replace it (yet) as I’ll probably be selling my house in the next year.

The JBL soundbar I do have, only had 1 hdmi in and 1 hdmi out.

Wasn’t an issue before as everything ran in to the Television I had, then EARC out to the sound bar.

There is no option to do that. This wouldn’t be a forever receiver im looking to buy, if/when I upgrade to full sound system in future I would get a different one.

What’s my cheapest best option so I can have my Apple TV/xbox and Nintendo switch plugged in. Then my audio split to sound bar and video sent to the Epson projector?

Thanks

  • lg 77" oled
  • denon x4700 avr
  • 5.2 surround system (revel c25 bookshelves, 4x revel m16 bookshelves, 2x svs sb-2000 pros)

aside from the build quality, quieter operation, and remote - would i benefit from buying the ub9000 instead of the ub820?

if so, does anyone have recommendations on the best time to buy the 9000? i've seen the 820 drop to $320 for black friday, but don't hear as much about the 9000.

I have a 5.2.4 setup currently, with:

TV – LG 77OLEDCX

Speakers:

Left / Center / Right – Paradigm Reference Studio 40 V2

Surrounds – KEF Q10

Font Height/Back Height – Polk OWM3

Subwoofers (2x) – SVS SB-2000 Pro

Accessories:

AVR – Denon AVR-X3800H

Bass Shakers (2x) - Dayton Audio BST-300EX

Bass Shaker Amp – Dayton Audio SA230

miniDSP 2x4HD

Plex Server - Intel Core i5-12400 / 32GB RAM / 32TB HD

Nvidia Shield Pro

Apple TV 4K

Xbox Series X

Can’t move up to a 7.2.4 setup with current room configuration. Given this setup, what would you be looking to upgrade first, or add to? Thanks

I want names of some of the best TVs built on a swivel base. I don't want to mount my TV to a third-party mount. I know they don't make these kinds of TVs anymore so I'll hunt for them online after I know what the names of the TVs are. I meed the TV to have a couple of HDMI and component ports, not just one over the other. I want something with great quality so I am looking for a quality of higher than 1080p. Thank you.

I wish I got some names for TVs with swivel stands.

I know it cannot replace a TV, but what would look more impressive do you think?
