Adam Something is pointing out Russia is falling in to fascism, and campists think that pointing out that the USA is also degenerating into fascism (and Adam recognizing it) is somehow a dunk.

Later on they try to backpedal in the comments after being called out for this whataboutism shit take, by saying that "no of course I don't defend Russia, but..."

Note: I'm not here to defend Adam Something; but merely to point out that common counter-argument "we never defended Russia" runs kinda shallow when they constantly run interference like that.

The tankies hurt themselves in their confusion!

I've come to two realizations recently:

One

The sudden tankie willingness to believe that Trump cares about a cease-fire in Gaza, and got tough with the Israelis and then they capitulated which Biden could have done at any time, sheds some interesting light on how the tankies think. They accuse anyone who disagrees with them of shifting their realities around, such that anything Biden does is good, anything the State Department says is always true, even if it contradicts itself or basic common sense or reality. I always thought that this was just a lazy reality-free arguing tactic, but in retrospect, I should have realized that it's a tell about their own thought process. Just like it's a warning sign if someone constantly suspects their partner of cheating, or is constantly on an absurdly hypervigilant lookout for scams and people trying to cheat them out of money, this is a key revelation about the way Hexbear itself looks at reality.

Trump is a capable diplomat, if believing that lets them trash Biden. Trump cares about Palestinians, if believing that lets them trash Biden. The cart is firmly in its place in front, and everything else including the horse can follow along depending on what the cart dictates.

Hexbear's censorship, and wild hostility to anyone who comes to "their" place and tries not to toe the party line, really does do a pretty effective job of distorting the view of reality and consensus that their users are able to experience.

Full context: someone had posted a picture of the Obamas in a wine cellar and everyone was deriding them for being so bourgeois as to own a wine cellar (all the usual high level discourse such as "MichelleSoUgly lmaolol")

I pointed out that this was them at a private event at a restaurant that has a wine cellar and not their own personal wine cellar. Everyone then freaked out that I was "defending the Obamas" and I got banned for Liberalism.

Went to the modlog for a reply to @[email protected] and didn't even need to really dig to find yet another .ml example

I just got banned from /c/latestagecapitalism for calling out GodlessCommie in a completely different thread. If you look at their modlog they're ban happy and spread loads of Chinese misinformation.

The thing I found funny, and why I'm posting here, comes from observing why it was that they started their graph at 2003 and exactly at 2003.

I feel like you could use this as a slide in a little seminar in "how to curate your data until it matches your conclusion, instead of the other way around."

And also, I don't think the hunger rate suddenly dropped from epic to 0 exactly in 2003, I think more likely Our World in Data is just a little bit shoddy about their data.
