Your average American gives no thought to the Palestinians at all. They just don't.
The real reason Democrats lost is when people told Biden the economy sucked, he discounted what they were saying, to their faces, and then Harris said she wouldn't do anything different.

"In 2023 alone, the CPI indicated that inflation had driven prices up by 4.1 percent. But the true cost of living, as measured by our research, rose more than twice as much — a full 9.4 percent. And that laid bare the oft-quoted riposte that wage gains outpaced inflation during the crisis following COVID-19. When our more targeted measure of inflation is set atop our more accurate measure of weekly earnings, it immediately becomes clear that purchasing power fell at the median by 4.3 percent in 2023. Again, whatever anyone may have claimed from the prevailing statistics during the run-up to the 2024 election, reality was drastically more dire for the great majority of Americans."
Why did Americans chose them over the DNC?
Not sure what you're asking here. The DNC leadership is chosen by party insiders, not the general public.
Americans wanted Biden and when it was clear he couldn't continue (1 month before the Democratic National Convention) Harris, as VP, was inserted as the nominee by the electors from each state.
They made their choice.
You are not making much sense
Yeah, it was a wild hair but there was something I wanted to express there just the words didn't come together and there is no forum for it.
