Eh, Gretzky at his peak probably falls into today's average speed for nhl players. Maybe slightly above. His IQ would still be there as would be his puck handling. Not really sure he'd be able to walk the blue line like he used to with the same effect but I'm sure he'd still be really good at it. Guy had patience on the blue line entry.
He was super elite in his era. But eras don't transfer. That said, I certainly don't think he gets rocked if for nothing more than you don't have to worry about that kind of shit these days.
I will say this though, Ovi, ruzzian populist not withstanding, would probably still excel in Gretzky's era because he is built and can lay hits and take some damage. He just probably ends up one of those guys who's smoking and drinking after practice.
The point is the once great one is a traitor and deserves a good shit kicking
