That's a false choice, as well as a misrepresentation of everything I've said.
If women are as incapable of winning as centrists suddenly and conveniently believe they are the instant someone brings up AOC, then you have nothing to worry about. If she can't win the general, she definitely won't be able to get through the primaries. democratic party leadership can't fuck with the general election like they can with primaries.
Mine are to my right. Are yours?
How convenient that the answer is always to run a centrist.
By not wanting to vote for centrists.
I'm saying it's impossible to find a progressive without a convenient excuse popping up for why they can't run.
Yeah, I get it. You think we're all sexists and therefore you dictate that women shouldn't be allowed to run for president.
Right. Exclude women because the most popular progressive is a woman and absolutely no other reason.
Uh huh.
The same old thing is a boring centrist.
And AOC is the most likely candidate that typifies those positions. Hence why the party is willing to shut out all women just to stop her personally.
This sentence is how we got here.
By having no ideals!
this reads like "run another dull centrist again. Regardless of whether they can win. Again. We can always blame the left when we earn another loss. Again."
You are advocating for a lack of policy and just running as "well, at least we're second worst to the nazis. For now. And by as narrow a margin as we think we can get away with."
Again.
That loses.
I don't have a say in the matter. I'm not one of the republican bigots we have to abandon every last principle to appeal to.
Which is interpreted in all cases by the useless and complicit democratic party as "run another centrist and lie about how progressive they aren't."
Yes, you are. You're just too removed from american politics to realize it.
Always have to appeal the bigots all centrists want the approval of. Because appealing to anyone but bigots at this point is a move to the left. centrists would rather have us all dead in camps than move to the left.
Moving to the left has always been just this thing we will do in the nebulous future and NEVER FUCKING DO. You may be happy with that, but that's because you don't have to live here.
Pretend I'm one of the bigots you dearly love and listen to me.
Bigots only vote for the bigger bigot. If you want to beat nazis by appealing to bigots, you have to be worse than your opponent. You don't beat nazis by chasing them to the right.
If someone out there hates trans people, you don't beat them by surrendering trans people to them. That doesn't convince the bigots, but trans people and their allies notice. All you did is throw away your credibility for nothing. Pick any minority you are willing to abandon for the bigots you prefer in all cases. If you break solidarity with your base, you have no solidarity with your base. Even if you do it one demographic at a time.
Where bigots are welcome, no one else is.
