Top Trump official Stephen Miller's recent declaration that anyone who "preaches hate for America" will face deportation has ignited alarm online, with critics warning the statement disregards First Amendment protections.

Social media users and legal analysts raised immediate concerns, pointing out that expressing dissent or criticism of the government is protected under the First Amendment. Some worried the administration was veering into authoritarian territory.

The backlash has reignited broader debates over the limits of free speech, especially as civil liberties fall under scrutiny. While immigration enforcement remains a core theme of President Donald Trump's platform, critics are increasingly questioning whether rhetoric like Miller's is a precursor to more aggressive suppression of dissent.

Hello...? ACLU? Journalists? Lawyers?Congresspeople? Senators? It's the 1st Amendment. The very first one! They should be suing this administration and blasting this out every single day. And we all should be calling our representatives every day, marching, and protesting. To start. Our democracy and country is being strangled, and the silence is deafening.

I think we are a little bit past lawsuits and the ACLU. The rule of law is dead. Now there is only action and consequence.

Dems are captured oposition. Best you can hope for now is state seccessions or a military coup/junta. Baring that, you won't believe how bad things are going to get.

the DINOs are essentially republicans that would never get elected as an R, so they pretend to be on the otherside, and they would like to keep the money train going with trump in power, because they benefit from it too.

Best hope is still Americans getting together and organizing civil society to oppose the trump administration.

More than half of American voted FOR this. I think you're misjudging the severity of the situation.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

No, more than half did not vote for this

Not even half of our voting eligible population voted for this

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee 0 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I stand corrected. 49.8% of people who could be bother to vote did.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 8 hours ago

who could be bother to vote

Also those who aren't allowed, those whose ability to vote was surprised, etc.

But go ahead and keep pretending half the country voted for something or was too lazy to vote, it surely couldn't be anything else

Everyone is suing. They’re ignoring the courts and suing news agencies that are telling the truth

All you have left is to literally fight. No court or paperwork will help you. Proven repeatedly yet you grasp at something that hasn't existed for some time.
