I'm friends with people all over the political and religious spectrum. We have our disagreements but the only friend I ever outright cut off was an old fling that I kept up with. We had one of those "if we are both single at 40" promises or whatever. She was always religious and she knew I wasn't but it was never really an issue. Until one day she told me that she believes women should feel blessed by God to have rape babies. That whole rape was a horrible act it was only because God knew she was ready to be a mother or some bullshit.
I legitimately hung up the phone on her mid conversation and haven't spoken to her since. She's never attempted to contact me since so I think she knows she said something that crossed a line.
I will maintain friendships with people I disagree with much more than most, but I have my limits.
It is good to have friendships...
It is necessary to have limits.:-)
On the bright side, these divisions only matter in a democracy where people vote on their beliefs, otherwise they remain merely odd opinions. So with democracy off the table now... you can feel free to give her a call! (/s btw:-P)
