Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline

- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.

Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.

Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.

Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

But of course! Those poor Russians just had to do a whole invasion, entirely out of self defense!
i didnt really put it that way, but kind of.
the cia has been talking openly about provoking it since the mid to late 2000s. putin has also been saying he would take nato expansion as a sign of aggression. this war was completely avoidable.
this talk of "evul russia" or "poor ukraine" is just propaganda to manufacture consent for spending billions on an useless war instead of addressing poverty or something useful, and people should stop believing it. this war is not about morals or being "good" or "evil" at all.
Ukraine is the country being invaded. Russia is the one invading. That is as simple as it is. You invade = you are the aggressor = you are the evil one.
i wish the world was that simple, with simple solutions. i'm still rooting for the best outcome for most people.
if you think this is about "good" and "evil", you are being naive at best. war doesn't work like superhero movies.
This is true in most cases. Unless you're the invader. There will never be an excuse to initiate an invasion.
so by that logic you agree the US is the most evil empire in the planet, and the bigger evil then?
heres your explanation for that guy to have chosen russia instead.
Ukraine isn't America, and Russia invaded Ukraine, not America. You have no logic here.
His logic is that russia is so dumb that they jumped into an obvious "trap" set by US "proxy" so that KGB putin can help US destroy russia through Ukraine. he made it sound like putin is a fool and was tricked into invading to weaken russia.
If putin was not interested in war and expanding territories, they would not have blocked Ukraine from joining Europes's NATO so that the border can be peaceful, just like the other russia borders with NATO.
It is clear that russia wanted ports in crimea and Ukraine territories, which is why russia started blocking Ukraine from joining NATO. In the beginning, russia was ok with Ukraine joining NATO. Russia wanted war in Ukraine for some reason and have been planning it for a very long time, with their puppets, funding coups, terrorist and operatives in donbas region. https://www.en.kremlin.ru/events/president/transcripts/21598
ukraine is an US proxy in this war, in the name of US interests. i'm pretty sure i mentioned this.
Yes you have mentioned it. And I said "Oh no those poor Russian invaders".
And I said they are the lesser evil vs the US in this situation, by far.
The US isn't invading Russia. The only involvement the US has in the Russo-Ukranian war is in your head.
the US has probably put more than 100 billion dollars in at this point.
I'm almost positive that widespread interest in Ukraine joining NATO spiked in popularity AFTER the invasion started and wasn't even taken seriously until then. So... Russia really created their own problem in that regard.
NATO does not expand (invade to grab land), it is based on voluntary membership application (although it is not truly volunteer since they are being forced, antagonized to join due to russia expansionism). New members are only accepted through vote. "NATO expansion" is well known as putin/FSB propaganda meant for a certain naive audience.
NATO borders with russia are the most peaceful with the low number of russian troops. Internally, Russia is not concerned about NATO, a defense alliance since Russia has the highest number of nukes.
In the media, they will use NATO expansion propaganda because there are naive clowns and useful idiots who will believe in NATO expansion propaganda. Do remember russia was fine with Ukriane joining NATO, they saw they can use it as propaganda to justify russia expansionism. http://www.en.kremlin.ru/events/president/transcripts/21598.
Ukraine public support for joining NATO was in the minority before the war, and only after invasion it became majority. Even after Ukraine said they won't apply to NATO, russia didn't not stop its expansion because russia expansion has nothing to do with NATO.
In fact due to russia aggressive expansion even more countries applied to join NATO. Putin knew that russia expansion will encourage more to submit application to join NATO. Putin was warned to stop russia expansion as that just cause more to apply for NATO membership, it is open to anyone. Furthermore note that expanding russia territories just bring russia closer to NATO, increasing russia border with NATO. Clearly it is not about NATO.
Even, without using NATO, putin will come up with a new reason like nazis, terrorists or LGBTQ or WMDs or security issues ( a country with the most nukes in the world has a security issue? only naive clowns will believe that) or restoring empire/imperialism (which he admitted in interview with carlson) or all of the above each for a different audience. Whatever it takes to get crimea and its warm water ports, and later Donbas for a land bridge and to secure Crimea water supply. Eventually going all the way to Transnistria.
You think things are so simple as poor top nuclear powered russia who is scared of evil tiny Ukraine, for suggesting sending in membership application form to NATO. You are being naive at best. War does not work like a superhero movie.
NATO was created to protect small countries from russia expansionism and stop russia from antagonizing its neighbours.
Russia was even member of G8 until russia antagonized G8 members by invasion of Crimea. The only way a massive nuclear powered russia sees NATO as a "threat" is that NATO prevents russia from expansionism... from expanding russia territories.
NATO was literally created to antagonize Russia. The political process of expanding it IS aggression.
The CIA director was already saying this openly way back in the late 2000s. I'd trust that over stupid media narratives they use to manufacture consent for the war.
Its presence is a threat to them, regardless of who you think of as the good guys. (hint: its not the US empire.)
Expansion (invasion to increase territories)? I think it is pretty clear that it is putin that is pushing for the expansion of russia empire, empire building into new territories.
The puzzling thing is why is Putin pushing/forcing more countries to sign up as NATO member instead of joining his own CSTO. Why is putin increasing its border with NATO and going closer to NATO, while spreading propaganda about NATO "expansion" when everyone clearly know that NATO is a voluntary membership system anyone can apply to join even russia.
i didn't express myself properly with that parenthesis so i edited it out.
the US empire is the one constantly invading and pushing for expansion.
as i said, provoking a war with russia is the stated goal for the CIA there since at least the late 2000s.
Yea US should stop bombing and expanding into Greenland! I have condemned US many times. I won't trust words from CIA you are naive to trust words from CIA and FSB and ex KGBs like putin. If you hate US expansionism into Texas then you should hate russia modern day expansion into other countries, if not you are a hypocrite.
russia (and israel) is the only major country in modern time that is still invading/colonizing to expand its territories. Expanding its empire, russia is adding those new lands it conquered into its constitution.
FSB has been planning the conflict in Ukriane for a very very long time, notice all the failed russia coup attempts inside Ukraine. Sending terrorist, agent and operative into the Donbass region to destabilize the region.
That is also probably why they refuse to let Ukraine join NATO, If Ukraine was in NATO there would be peace in this region like the other NATO countries bordering russia. Russia don't seem to want peace even after trump made a peace deal. The real war in Ukraine has yet to start, russia is not done with its imperial expansionism and colonialism.
All the bombing and funding extremist and coups are stuff that both russia (with their FSB, Nazi wagner group and other nazi groups) and US does but US has yet to expand its territories in modern times.
US expansionism and warmongering is more extensive than every other global south country combined. Their military budget reflects this. I also hate Russia expansionism, they are slight in comparison making them the lesser evil though.
And yes, when the CIA says its going to do something and spends a decade and a half doing it, I think the hint should be taken. This war hasn't started in Ukraine. Much the same way the war has already been started with China, and Taiwan is just the tip of the iceberg.
You just mentioned another war being waged by US money. Israel can only take the almost entirety of the middle east because its an US proxy too. The genocide can only be done because of US weapons, technology, money and backing being poured in huge quantities for Netanyahu to enjoy.
