As a progressive / person with leftist ideology it fuckin kills me to see people, who might be Russian bots or propaganda Bros in all honesty or victims of them, keep saying to just do nothing and it'll get better by magic.

Like it or not the Democrats are the only alternative to Republicans with how our system is set up. Enough people vote straight R or D every election with little to no knowledge over "that's my team" that it is pointless to try to vote 3rd party just because of our electoral system's flaws.

Either those peeps are arguing in bad faith, are ignorant to the reality of the situation or (unsurprisingly at this point) trolls or victims of GOP/nation state propaganda convincing them to throw their vote away.

People usually learn not to touch the stove when they get burned. The democrats have a large segment of voter apathy and disillusionment. They caused this, and we all got burned. So let’s see if they continue to burn themselves. If anything it seems to me that the Democratic Party is being passive to trumps actions because they are playing chicken with progressive voters. It puts the neocon on the ballot or else it gets the trump again. But the stance of damage mitigation is a short term and short sighted goal that sacrifices the future direction of governance. My vote so far is my right, don’t like my vote? Though.

Yo if you want to support the GOP and the MAGA movement that is your right. Just saying I'd per prefer to have a Dem in office vs cutting my nose off to spite my face.

As long as you realize you're actively helping MAGA then by all means you do you.

And i usually prefer progressive policies over lip service. It’s unfortunate that Democratic leadership chose their position. I am not cutting off my nose to spite my face, i am cutting off my nose to save my person. Seems my nose was destined to come off regardless.

I know you won't see eye to eye with me on this and you probably won't admit to yourself that you're helping MAGA but that is what you're doing by not voting Dem.

You're just looking for a reason to not vote or cast your vote into a lake of fire and feel good about it. Well you shouldn't feel good about it.

If we had ranked choice voting or another kind of system then yeah by all means go for it. Sadly that's not the reality you and I live in here and that means a vote for a third party just causes a spoiler effect for whichever of the two main party candidates are closer aligned politically to the third party.

I guess that's better than not voting at all though.

I already acknowledge that possibility with that whole ‘cutting my nose off the save my self’ analogy. The problem is i am looking over the long term. What i see is a history of vote blue no matter who being the rallying cry of neocons who are advocating in resisting progressive policy, and promoting historic republicans policies. That under the current leadership we continue to ratchet right. If this pattern persists the situation will get worse. This requires a change as far as i am concerned. So i May conditionally vote Democrat when i find a candidate i can trust, that is a conditional.
