An email with the subject "Tic Tok Trend".
It says:
Students and Parents,
We are aware of the Tik Tok trend involving students inserting small metal objects (such as paper clips, pushpins, pencil lead, etc.) into the charging ports of their Chromebooks. This can result in creating sparks, electrical fires, and/or battery punctures, all of which can cause serious injury and damage.
After this message, if a student chooses to participate in this inappropriate behavior, the student may be charged the replacement fee for a new Chromebook. Additionally, the student will face disciplinary action in the form of out of school suspension (OSS).
We are asking for your support in speaking with your child about the dangers of this behavior, as well as reinforcing the importance of treating school-issued devices with care.
A purple button at the bottom says “View, Appreciate or Reply”, and a note underneath states “Please do not reply to this email.”
Haha good for you! Our guy got the nickname Loopmaster for a couple of weeks. 😁
Nowadays the proper network switches used commercially can tell there's a loop and isolate the ports until the loop is gone. Another loophole closed (pun very much intended).
As far as nicknames go that one ain't bad!
I remember thinking it was stupid that I could cause something like that, I chalked it up to my school's IT infrastructure just being bad (rural Ontario) lol glad to know it doesn't mess things up now, never tried it again after that!
