At this point it's just an obvious: threaten high tariffs, then backtrack tactic.

I am slowly but surely doing my best to de-americanise my shopping/spending habits thanks to his bullying tactics.

This is just a nice reminder that I can, and should, be doing more 😅

Make sure to unsubscribe from any streaming services including and especially Netflix.

Subjective value in our market system is determined by demand. If no one wants their shitty media, then it has little to no value and they must convince us that it does.

A mass exodus from American devices, apps, and services in general would have a significant impact.

Services rarely get mentioned by the Trump admin because the US has a massive service trade surplus with the world.

Think about every Visa transaction where they collect a 1.5% processing fee, or 30% off of an app store sale or Uber eats order.

Being the first to market and then using monetary and legal weight to secure their position as a middle man, collecting a tithe as everyone passes 'GO', has been their modus operandi for decades now.

If the rest of the world opts out as a collective, first by loosening our adherence to their IP laws, they would have no choice but to listen.

I don't disagree, but afaik Netflix's Reed Hastings is one of the few tech CEOs who has not been licking Trump's boots, and openly supported Harris. Unlike the bosses of Prime (Bezos) and YouTube (Sundar), who both obsequiously clapped along at the Dear Leader's inauguration that they donated to.

I guess he lives off the idea that any attention is good for him, which seems to be working out pretty well so far. So on a personal level changing a salient policy every week makes sense.

Whether it's good for America... Let's just say I'd care more if they didn't vote for him twice.
